Hey guys, I'm building a pretty big game fansite. Im looking to make something like this: http://wow.allakhazam.com/ Of course mine won't be nearly as big and i am not doing it about WoW, but i like that one and how there is a database with all items and stuff. So that's what want to make pretty much, but for a smaller game. I was wondering how that site was managed. It looks like they used a CMS, but any ideas on which they used? or any other tips on making my fansite?
Sorry, I have no idea how to do any of that server, web hosting, or web designing stuff. But it looks to me like the layout of all of those Gamespy sites called Planet*insert popular video game name*.
Looks to me like a custom CMS using MySQL databases. A tip: make sure you look at each possible thing that a user could be doing that might cause a problem (or a security threat). I missed a few "for" loops and my site was hacked T_T. Just be careful, and always double check!
