Well then your whole crew can get together and do a template, or a simple web desgn tutorial (different parts, like over 6 weeks you release 6 tutorials that complete 1 web design).

If you don't feel like giving your art work back (and most of the people in crews make atleast 1 signature a week, and thats with busy schedules and lack of desire to create one), then IMO, you shouldn't be allowed to have your crew endorsed by the site.

The site is doing YOU a service allowing you to publicize your crew on a very popular forum, if your doing nothing for the site in return (outside the inital cost, which is practically nothing), then you should have your endorsement from the site taken away, should you not?

I agree with many posts here

Anyways when i did come back surfing the crews section i did think WTF theres like 20 approx crew app stickies on the page thought there was waaaaaay too many nowadays

hm..well thing is with antiWoW its more of a all round crew lol - Hating WoW with a passion lmao - Not actualyl dead however as time did progressed some members did leave [GFX ones] due to inactivity - o well have to admit that was my fault - Exams coming in the way but ye as long as you have free time you can manage it :) which i am going to do once exams are over

We have got a pack going which was going to get released last month or so but got delayed have to refer to my nemo got to get released this month

I think there use to be CREW BATTLES before not sure where they went :D

Ill say ... A art pack every last day of the month or else you get a notice and if they still dont comprehend then delete em

We will see what happens but the idea of crew battles is not new ;) & I want to see that monthly pack in effect hehe [*looks at GMods*]

Why do we want to give out free stuff? That's dumb.

Crews already give enough to the community by being here, and selling their tags.

Not to long ago, if I suggested the "Bill" or "Payment" when we were trying to get rid of creds you and the other mods would snatch this up. I still don't see why you don't.

There's enough free stuff given out, thus why you mods/admins made "GR Mafia".

If crews don't have a problem with this I see no reason why this can't be done, but to make a crew give out their art for free... Is idiotic in my opinion. People make art for themselves, not for others normally.

So as said before the crews should have a choice:

    - A Crew Fee of some kind.
    - A free pack.

Or hell, if they wanted they could sell a pack for the fee.

I strongly believe it should be an option, free pack that QUALIFIES, not just some lame space fillers, OR the payment.

I am all for free stuff, look at my activity with GR Mafia, but the majority of people here are all about selling stuff, and making credits (makes a lot of sense) we can not force people to give stuff out for free. (I mean sure you can threaten them, but I think they would rather leave a crew than give stuff away.)

I dont and cant do anything all is down to GMods and admins :D

Im only a sec mod ;( Anyways a scenario - When you will go to a employer ie a designing firm - And they request a portfolio - You will DEFINATELY NOT be putting sigs in lol that would be hilarious though

Sigs just something that identifies you - Real art is determined by the artist's creativity I would love to see some more LP here though rather than sigs - Eg DA and CG Network are examples of places with hugely popular LP artists

I do see sigs selling for loads not sure why but I do see them and think to myself what the artist has done to do that effect so i research anyways back on topic ...

Its is up to the artist if they are willing to have one or multiple PSD in a pack ... They will get known and the crew - I have asked all members of my crew if they are willing to donate and most of them did

it is up to the crew if they want to give it out for free or not but thats another thing though - Werent we talking about the certain influx of Crews :D

Web design is something else than signatures. how would u feel to make a tut about how u build a forum skin. that is load loads more work than donating a simple signature..

The last template i have build had over 3000 layers and 200 layer folders (4 page template).. i had spend 1 week (8 hours a day) on it.. As i would think u would want crews to donate quality stuff instead of simple layout...

    pow pow...........................

and its kinda bull---- to say
ever thought of crews who are not set up to make cash, but just to learn from each other and show off tags to each other? And the cost thing.. wow 2 whole topics..... its not that your giving there own forum parts.. its just 2 topics. U can better shutdown the spam forum if u want less costs....

Dementia, I think you need to value us members a bit more. You act like GR does a complete courtesy ALLOWING us to be a part of the community. None of us had to register. Yes, it is nice of you to allow us to have a crew here, but we are paying 2.5k... meaning it isn't a complete gift. 2.5k=$12.50. With the 15 crews we have, GR has made (in theory) $187.50. Now, I am not trying to say that I do not appreciate what you allow us to do, but I am just making sure you realize that it is not a total gift.

IMO, nobody should be FORCED to release their work free. I'm willing to do it anyways, but you do not have the power to force anyone to do anything. You can ban them, but what does that do? Takes one of your (potentially) best artists off of your site, and lowers your reputation for making a stupid request.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I just want to make sure that whatever you guys decide on is just and fair.

No crews is not really a prominant suggetsion. Were paying to have the crews at GR, and we would like to be able to have a thread here about it.

im willing to donate, and so will my crew hopefully.

Crew site = $60ish a year including domain and real hosting. Permenant endorsement from GR is about $12.50, not to mention HUGE publicity. If you want to be a part of the community, nothing is stopping you from just being a crew and not having a GR official crew that is endorsed by the site.

My intention was never to FORCE you to pay, it was moreso an option, that I feel the crews who have been here for a long period of time (or individual members) would rather give back to the community rather than taking the easy way out and just giving a few credits a month back to the site so we can take them out of the system (which is rather pointless atm anymore, due to the creation of the GR Bank and a set cost for credits).

My suggestion in the staff forum was exactly this:
Then another mod responded (I will not quote him or her, as it is up to him or her to give permission to do so) and I replied:
That explains a bit of my stance on the subject. A site is nothing without members, and being OVERLY harsh is NOT the way to do something, a simple signature to a site of beginners would help bring this site back to its former glory, before credits were sold, before they were whored, when ALL tuts used to be free, and you'd have constant LR and WR posts up all around the forum, and extremely cheap FR signatures (because we allowed them to be sold multiple times, and basically it just meant you could claim you made it and resell it).

Still you want a FREE resource pack.

I think this will dissuade members to make crews, I know all crews aren't as self centered as me. But why give something out for free, seriously. You yourself seem to have no problem with it.

Yet you claiming all this takes little to no time at all to do, I don't see any Sigs or LP's for LR in the Resource section from you.

And the last free tut I see you posted was from:

    10th September 2006 - 01:04 PM

    ---------

So I really don't think you should talk about giving free stuff out.

I work almost every day and am in high school, and every once in a while I stay to lift. Which makes my online time that much shorter, and among all that my normal "Bed-Time" (Yes I have one) is 11.

So please don't say making stuff is so simple when you don't know everyone's schedule.

I think if anything a Fee would be best. Because then if needed i could Buy creds.

    ---------

I think as of right now this thread has turned into nothing but an argument so I'm closing it.

Please do not open it, this can and will be left up to the hierarchy of GR to decide.

I don't donate to the site on this particular account because I donate my time to the site, via countless hours per day that I am online (generally invisible), my moderator actions, and my helpful posts and MSN conversations with members from this site. I work 12 hour shifts 6pm to 6am most nights, as well as do web design, and have done a great deal of things for this site that go unnoticed as a moderator. I find more than enough time to do anything. School is 8 hours (ish), homework is 2-4 hours (ish), work is 4 hours (ish), that leaves 8-10 hours a day between sleep and meals (and those homework hours are quite long, but i realize that not many people can do AP class homework in the time I did it), as well as the weekends.

This is re-opened BTW, as it IS a concern amongst the staff, and the public, and it needs to come to some form of conclusion and the members DO have a say in the matter.

EDIT: also as a word of advice, I have a total of 5 accounts on this site, 1 of which is known publically, the other 4 are not known by the staff, or any member of this site via me telling them (they may have guessed from posts), and I have donated well over 20,000 credits to this site, a skin that was offered $450 for for $200, and hundreds of resources bought and given out via my alternate accounts, so before you go accusing me of being a non-existant individual in the grand scheme of helping GR, I recommend you take a look at the fact that what you see isn't always what you get, especially not in full.
