Holy... Well before I start I'm going to say that I like the first version. The flow and lighting is great, but I think that you could do a lot more with the glow on his helmet, shoulder, and arm. Make it pop out. But maybe you don't want to do that since you have a lot going on with the shapes already. (snip) I think it's a great idea to take the sig and point out something that you would not otherwise be able to describe (like you did). (snip) You're right. It is a very minor detail. (snip) You're right again, like the second thing I said. (snip) I personally dislike half-assed opinions. If you're going to have an opinion at all, just spit it. (snip) (snip) AKA: "Now that I'm done f*cking your sig I should let you know that I won't use the raped sig anywhere else but this thread (your royal f*ckup opening photoshop and sh*tting all over it is JUST between you and me.)" I respectfully disagree. Please stop this C&C worship. He might as well take Huy-N's render, make his own sig, and glue it to this thread instead of hijacking it. Some of the stuff he said is great, but f*ck, the rest of it makes me so ill. I'm not hating but... I mean, PLEASE. Actually, I am. But this doesn't mean that this is entirely bad, because it is much better than what most posters usually do here ("hi nice sig i like the colors bye now"). In fact, I removed all the positive stuff about your review because it's great and I don't need to talk about it. But, Btray, know that when you go THAT in-depth you run the risk of disrespecting not only the person you are critiquing but the people who read your critique. Not everyone will react as negatively as I did, maybe not even a lot of people, but you put in too much effort and too much time to do that to yourself. You put WORK and EFFORT into it, but you forgot RESPECT and PRACTICAL ADVICE. It's difficult but that is the fine line that critics like you have to walk. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Clay*s Steps to Art Criticism)</div> Trust me, this is how all the pros critique. It's best to do this at museums at art shows. Plus, it's a great neck workout. Btray, you want play 'art critic' so you're going to have to live with all the crap that art critics get. Sorry. If someone doesn't (-)rep me for this I will be crushed. I mean, f*ck, I just wrote a f*cken essay and used the maximum number of quotes so give me some notorious sh*t for it. -------------------- <div align="center"></div>
Clay i was going to neg rep you while reading this post for being an ------ but the last paragraph and how you not want to be - repped. im going to punish you by not doing it. also because crit is crit, whether its for art or for a speech about art.. its all relevant
Hi DRM. I think you have a lot of great and important things to say to me. But I think that I have trouble understanding you. For example, I'm not sure if you were saying that you think I am relevant or if you think that Btray is relevant. I don't understand some other things you said about me either (please clarify). I'd like to think that I'm not a jerk or a pretentious *sshole but I felt strongly about Btray's post. I have a theory (theories are bad) that when a person (who might be an artist) is asking for C&C, he is asking for two things. This person (who might not be an artist) has two desires. the desire to be appreciated for a work he is proud of or a skill that he thinks he has the desire to become a better person or become better at a skill he thinks he has but could be better at Another person (who might be an art critic) will fail if he wants to critique the original person (who may or may not be an artist) if he does not satisfy any of these two desires. He will only partially fail if he satisfies one of the two desires. He will succeed if he successfully satisfies both desires. That person (who may not be an art critic) responds to a person (who may or may not be an artist but who is definitely asking for C&C) because he wants to satisfy those two desires. That person (who may or may not be an art critic) responds to a person (who is looking for good C&C) because his input was asked for. That person (who may or may not be an art critic but who definitely wants to give C&C) wants to feel like his C&C was constructive or that it flatters his target. That person (who wants to give good C&C) does himself and everyone else a favor (the artist, the people who appreciate the artist, and the people who appreciate the critic) if he gives good C&C. Because he wants to. And because his target wants it. Anyways, thats my theory; but remember that theories are bad. -------------------- <div align="center"></div>
