I know there are alot of boards out there, like:

    IPB v1.3-2.0
    VBulletin
    IPBFree
    PHPBB

    and so on....

but are there other free ones out there to download?

PHPBB just sucks for me, I need a different alternative...

    ((my 200th post :D ))

IPB is the best but it can cost alot of money. vbulletin is also alright but costs alot as well. IPB 1.3 is legal to un, but its illegal to share it, so unless you already have it itd be a bad idea looking for it.

dont do IPBfree. phpbb is alright, i mean its pretty customizable and pretty easy to make custom styles if u can design, however i heard it has security flaws.

your best bet wouldbe to go with phpbb cus its free so you can keep getting updates, unlike if you decided to go with IPB 1.3.

depend if you want to spend alot of money or not.

i heard Simple Machines is good, as well as (i think its) ezboard or ikon board or something.

yea, I know all about that. PHPBB gave me a BIG FAT security prob. I wanted to make Admins moderators of the board, so I added me and a friend to the "moderated by:" thing, and It overwrote our Admin setting, we were set back to Mods... I had to wait for another friend to reset us as admins..

I'll never go back to PHPBB unless you point a gun at my head....

Never use PhpBB if you want your forum to last a while.

    IPB is your best bet.

There are ways to get IPB free ^_^

IPB 1.3 and 2.0 are free too, but good luck finding them.

    lol ^_^

i heard, not sure if this is true, but now isnt it illegal to share the unlimited IPB 1.3 + 2.0 trial? Besides, the 2.0 one is buggy.

I bet it is, I don't really know. But how are they going to know if you got it from someone sharing? ^_^

there's also something called wbb (wortlab burning board). Their newest versions you have to pay for, but for the older ones you just go ahead and download them and get full rights..

Quite easily EddieD: ?ipsreport=1 for members to check your board.

They run the #'s thru their database and compare it to see if the board is licensed. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

The best free board is IF. Not sure about free downloadable boards.
