I've had to travel alot more than usual the last few years, visiting my dad. Now the time has come and I'm going to fly home in the morning. Which brings up the whole point of this off-topic thread. Flying has become such a intense scare for me now, I'm aware that it's safer than driving, but I just think about death more then. I've come to the conclusion death isn't the scare it's just the fact I lose and miss out on alot...anyone feel the same way or even care, or just the opposite?
people tend to fear flying more than driving .. and the main reason why is because you are in the air and not grounded
Just look out the window.....It's actually quite beautiful... And if you don't have a window seat just think the turbulence is a very cool rollercoaster ride
Actually forget about Death, it is going to come when its written in your faith. You can't avoid it at any cost. If you are to live for the next hour you will or if its written that you don't then you won't. So forget about the fear of death because its going to come when it is. Enjoy your flight and be nice to the people on-board especially the Hostess Believe me its going to be a hell lot of a fun on that flight if you take my advice
As a pilot I can say this: Listen to Zohair! And remember this: the pilot is has hundreds, if not thousands of hours in that plane if he's in the left seat. Your life is safe in his hands. Airliners are inspected for damage every time they land. And they are disassembled once every 6 months to inspect the inner workings. Thousands of flights are completed everyday without problems. The media blows aircraft crashes out of proportion because they simply don't understand aviation. Trust me, you're safe.
Fear? If you knew the numbers... Driving a car is dangerous. A aeroplane is, BY FAR, the safest way to go. There are very, very little planes who carsh. I think one in a million flights or something. Not really sure. I'll search some stats. (...) Got them! To die in a plane crash, you would have to travel each day, for 29 thousand years. In terms of deaths, planes are 7 times safer then bikes (How many people have died riding a bike?) and 60 times safer then riding a motorcycle without a helmet on. (I translated, sorry for english).
And also the person is not in control when in flight. Airplanes are much more safe than cars, it's just the fact that the ground is hundreds of miles below you that makes people feel unsafe. You should have no reason to be scared. Carry a magazine with you, and a bottle of water. Keep the window closed if it makes you nervous, and just focus on the environment inside the plane, not outside. You'll be fine.
