If I could write tutorials, then I would. :C

Now large art tutorials that teach you the basics, those are pro. Sig tutorials are just a cobblestone on the path to progress...

Any one who says sigs can't be professional are ignorant. Any art, regardless of size, can be considered pro. If a 'professional' artist, which mind you doesn't always mean they make money off of their graphics, makes a tag is it pro? Of course. Professional means, at least in some cases, that they know illy or ps extensivly and can produce fantastic works of art.

Some say professional artists make money because of their graphics. I've made almost $150 off of my graphics, but I don't nearly consider myself professional, but meerly a kid with a hobbie that happens to pay a little.

Any art can be considered 'professional' tags included. Large canvas, of course, is harder to make, therefore making it more 'professional like', but that doesn't smaller art can't be just as good or detailed.

Anyway, back on track. Semi-pro is just a term to make intermediates feel better about themselves. Any one who calls themselves a 'pro' or 'semi-pro' are most likely horrible. It is just a scheme to get more people interested and therefore more credits.

Most of the creative stuff out that is considered semi-pro isnt a fantastic work of art, it is just the trend, so people like it.

We've had the signatures are not professional arguement before, i encourage you to rethink this think process and look at three individuals:

    Irrelevant

    MaynardsTOOL

    vectoreyez

Regarding the recent tutorials, just people looking for credits.

well i dont care about semi pro if they want pro tell em to take there own photos make there own c4d renders and make there own textures it pisses me off to c a tut which claims to be "semi pro" and uses all other peoples work.

Pro art is something that accually means something not just put together in ps
    these are my views anyway

People are hungry for creds as of late... Can't be bothered to even visit the offers and request section that much anymore... most of them are flooded with "semi-pro" tuts that doesn't really live up to its name.

Here's the thing about tutorials. First of all... I don't care how pro a tut is, I don't think it should be sold.

Anyway, when it comes to the level of the tutorial I think it's irrelevant. The only thing that matters is whether it has taught somebody else something they did not know before. How to use a Photoshop tool better, a new blending style, some brushing techniques, cool text, a nice effect, minor tweaking, adjustment layers, etc. If somebody clicks on the tut, reads it and goes "Hmmm, I could use that." or "Hey, I never knew that." it doesn't matter if the title of the tut is "pro", "semi-pro", "intermediate", "unwhored" or whatever... the tutorial did its job.

Oh, and what I think seperates pro from, semi-pro, intermediate etc is the ammount of people that post in the thread saying they learned something new. The more people that say that... the more pro the tut is :)

After all, isn't that the point of a tutorial? To teach?

people who do tutorials get alot of rep and if you are succesful in selling them 2 then they also become very rich that is why so many more has started to make tuts. BUt I dont see this as a bad thing only a good thing, buy what you want don complain that there is alot of stuff you dont want to buy....?
