First off, I would try to find a Power Supply thats seperate from the Case, based on my Experiences they arent very reliable at all, especially when they arent high-priced...so try to find another PS or just buy a seperate one if that one busts.....another thing...I would look closer at the vid card before Purchasing...thats just me though......Good Luck!

    Power Supply Place

Try there for power supplies, they are some of the best out there (and they glow!!!) because i agree try and get a case and power supply seperatly. . .

toss the case and PSU they aren't that great...

furthermore wait a few days for conroe, even if you couldn't though, an opteron 165 or 170 would be a far better buy, esp since as of the moment newegg has ccb1e stocked which is the best stepping.

the 7900GT is a great card, but the x1800XT is a better buy at 100$ less, unless you plan to be gaming under linux(which is a pain in the ass no matterwhat) the 7900GT KO doesn't offer as good of a bang/$ esp at the price, you can get a x1900XT almost... again x1800XT for $220 performs on par with that 7900GT and OCs very well if the need should arise.

    as for the ram,
for the money corsair is craptastic... you'de likely want DDR500sdram for the performance anyway... again though, if you're waiting for conroe you'de want ddr2 memory anyway which as is is beginning to outperform ddr1(albiet not by a ton)

also, the only thing I've heard about ultra is that they make ultra crappy PSUs compared to the likes of antec, enermax, and tagan

chipset doesn't matter, you can use an ATi card on a nvidia board and vice versa, you wouldn't have SLi/Xfire obviously but both are overrated with it only being worth it when comparing yourself to the absolute top tire cards(two 7600GTs might be the only exception, as of this moment though only plan on it if getting both cards simultaneously) though I personally prefer to match chipsets/cards it is not a necessity. again check the benches with the x1800XT vs the 7900GT, see the diference, then consider whether or not it's woth paying 50% more for the 7900(which doesn't OC as well)

again though, wait for conroe... the performance boost & bang/$ it yeilds over current CPUs is admirable; if I'm not mistaken, I heard it's out on the 23rd.

as for the price range, conroe ranges from 200ish all the way to the 1000s

the 6600(i beleive) is clocked at 2.4GHz and costs 315$ and more or less rapes the x2 4800+, OCs phenominally well too..

AM2 is allright it's a small performance gain, though DDR500sdram will outperform ddr2-667, the advantage of AM2 over 939 is futureproofability(and for the record that means nothing since everything will be obsolete in a short period of time and AMD has continued to plege support to 939 for a while, see s462's lifespan)

if you wait until conroe, i'd have to look into what would consitute aceptable ddr2 ram, as of the moment I'm not well versed, and will ot pretend to be an expert with DDR2 as compared to DDR1.

You're not the only one here that has an opinion that matters. I made a suggestion based on personal experiences and experiences of past clients. No need to be so rude...

I am not rude nor mad. I have used several different PSus in my lifetime, including Ultra, but Ultra was not the 1337est. Antec was the best that ever happened to my computer...

I am not trying to steal your opinion, I am just suggesting, as all of us are allowed to do, no?
