When I use Firefox to download from anywhere.. it only allows me to run 4 downloads at a time. How do I change that setting to 20 downloads at a time? Internet explorer allows me to run 30-40 downloads at a time. I went through all the options in Firefox, I didn't see any options that allow me to change the number, I tried Google, and it has left me very curious.
Fast responses are appreciated. Somebody mentioned to me Firefox extensions? But he didn't know which one to get, where to get them, and how to go about downloading them. Hope there is a faster way though.

The default download limit from a single server in Firefox is 2.
You can modify this number (to up to 8) by changing the about:config pref network.http,max-persistent-connections-per-server to a larger number. I'd recommend 8.

Assuming the site allows more than two connections at a time, this should be all you need to change.

You can use FlashGet as a download manager, which doesn't ever have limits. Then use can use the Flashgot extension for firefox to integrate it in, so that you can just right-click on the link and start it up through Flashget.

    FlashGet download manager: Link
    FlashGet FF extension: Link

It's a little (very little) difficult to set up, but it should solve your problem. BTW, both programs are tiny and contain no spyware.

    Then why bother posting here?

I was going to say the same as Peanuts. Just enter about:config in your adress bar, the scroll down and change the value. :)
