I don't think there even IS a FTP option for Firefox. There might be one if you install a plugin from www.mozilla.com.

Firefox, by itself, can not do non-anonymous FTP.

There is a firefox FTP plugin from MozDev, I beleive, however its nothing special. I've used it before and cant say it was that great.

What I can say is great however, is smartFTP.

    http://smartftp.com

Or, if your ever desperate, Start > Run > CMD > Command 'FTP' :P

I reccomend using Filezilla. Well, really all FTP programs are the same. Some just look nicer that others.

Though, like I said earlier Firefox does not have FTP Capabilities.

Smartftp has some cool features though which I dont think others have...

But yeah, when it comes down to it, its basically all the same Put, Get, and Chmod commands put to a GUI...

Really. Sometimes I wonder why there are FTP programs out there that you need a license for. I mean, what more could it have??? Cpanel on your desktop? That would be great.

Interesting though (Cpanel on the Desktop) and I've always wondered about FTP programs and differences and with any research I've done it seems they are all quite similar.

As for FTP... hopefully the Cpanel should have it's own FTP.

    ^_^

I used to use something called WS_FTP or something along those lines, and it felt a bit better than smartftp but to be honest the functionality was exactly the same. + My free trial ran out

He could always use 01ftp.com if he doesn't want a program...

Cpanel DOES have its own in browser FTP. Its much easier to use third party software like Filezilla though.

About the Cpanel on your desktop. I was thinking of a outlook type thing. Where you would make your changes, then hit apply o something (send/receive, in outlook) and it makes ALL those changes at once from your desktop.

In theory, if this were possible. You could run a website, w/o ever using a browser.

No one even tried to help this guy really.
Its an extension called FireFTP. Once it is installed and you have restarted Firefox, go to the Tools tab then click FireFTP(It will have a blue seahorse next to it)
And this info is straight from their site:
    • Under the "Manage Accounts" menu, select "New..."
    • Go to the "Host" field and enter in the name of the server you wish to connect to.
    • After that's done, if you wish to logon anonymously, check the Anonymous box. However, most times you will need to enter your login and password as well so enter those in the appropriate fields.
    • Click Ok to save the account information and to close the dialog.
    • Finally, click the "Connect" button to make the connection to your site.

HAHA. No one really knew what he had. For all we know, he could have been using just plain old firefox.

if you just want quick access, I would just go to My Computer and type your address in the bar and you can login via that. that's what i normally do.
