FDR.. Even though he was a fascist, he helped the American Economy the recouperate the most since the Great Depression with his 'big deal', and his '100 day' thing.

FDR didn't do ---- for the economy during the depression, it was WW2 that pulled us out of it. Clinton was a horrible president, he downsized our military by 2/3. Ronald reagan is where its at bitches.

clinton downsized our military to let those who havnt been home in months/years to finally be able to see their family again. it also helped us get out of debt by not having to pay for our additional unneeded military, since no one projected 9/11 it seems like he had the right idea in his head.

Then again if we needed to get into a war (which he wouldn't have done since he took crap from everybody) we wouldn't be able to, our budget was so small we couldn't defend ourselves properly.

Also considering out last war was WWII, which was what... 70 some years ago? And we've remained sole power and no one expected a terrorist attack, he thought he was doing what was best.

Our budget is just as small as it was then. Clinton had a main purpose in his presidency, to get us out of debt, and he did a damn nice job of it for the 8 years he was in office. He used the money we had instead of asking for money from other countries and getting us more into debt.

Bush's main objective is to impress his father and create a moreso stable/equal government in other countries and catch Saddam, a person who his father was trying to get when he served his presidency and Clinton took over.

NO ONE, except the terrorists, expected 9/11. They may have anticipated it one day, but they were in no way expecting it, no president was, if Clinton had expected an attack with our own airplanes crashing into our own huge economically inclined buildings, he would have made the budget and army to fit with what he expected.

Bush got into office and didnt do anything to reinstate former officers. He did what any president unaware of the situation at stake would have done (well, not really, some presidents would have shot down their own plane srather than letting them reach the trade towers, a major factor of the economy today). Also, dont give me this, "there was no time to send planes out" BS. Planes on airforce bases are fueled, loaded, ready and war pilots are on duty as well as on site at all given times. There are stations all over each coast, especially New York and California, a pilot could have been suited up, in his plane and ready for action within minutes of the government finding that the plane was going off course (which they knew about for quite a few minutes, as planes flying into the air space are closely monitored). A plane could have been up and over to the passenger plane and shot down in order to kill only a few hundred people instead of a few thousand.

I watched something on the history channel that stated the only plane they knew about at the time was the one going for the white house. The planes would have been several minutes late to the plane impact. and by the way. How can you say Clinton wasn't anticipating a terrorist attack when several occured over his presidency.

    PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON, DEMOCRAT

In February 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed by Muslim fanatics, killing five people and injuring hundreds.

Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, did nothing.

In October 1993, 18 American troops were killed in a savage firefight in Somalia. The body of one American was dragged through the streets of Mogadishu as the Somalian hordes cheered.

Clinton responded by calling off the hunt for Mohammed Farrah Aidid and ordering our troops home. Osama bin Laden later told ABC News: "The youth ... realized more than before that the American soldier was a paper tiger and after a few blows ran in defeat."

In November 1995, five Americans were killed and 30 wounded by a car bomb in Saudi Arabia set by Muslim extremists.

Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, did nothing.

In June 1996, a U.S. Air Force housing complex in Saudi Arabia was bombed by Muslim extremists.

Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, did nothing.

Months later, Saddam attacked the Kurdish-controlled city of Erbil.

Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, lobbed some bombs into Iraq hundreds of miles from Saddam's forces.

In November 1997, Iraq refused to allow U.N. weapons inspections to do their jobs and threatened to shoot down a U.S. U-2 spy plane.

Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, did nothing.

In February 1998, Clinton threatened to bomb Iraq, but called it off when the United Nations said no.

On Aug. 7, 1998, U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim extremists.

Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, did nothing.

On Aug. 20, Monica Lewinsky appeared for the second time to testify before the grand jury.

Clinton responded by bombing Afghanistan and Sudan, severely damaging a camel and an aspirin factory.

On Dec. 16, the House of Representatives prepared to impeach Clinton the next day.

Clinton retaliated by ordering major air strikes against Iraq, described by the New York Times as "by far the largest military action in Iraq since the end of the Gulf War in 1991."

The only time Clinton decided to go to war with anyone in the vicinity of Muslim fanatics was in 1999 – when Clinton attacked Serbians who were fighting Islamic fanatics.

In October 2000, our warship, the USS Cole, was attacked by Muslim extremists.

Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, did nothing.

Oh and to the person who thought that FDR "won" ww2, your strongly mistaken, the generals and the soldiers won it, not the president.

And the thing about truman being stupid for launching nukes at japan? wtf, know your history. incendiary bombs caused more deaths than the nukes and the nukes wound up causing the japanese to surrendur with no casulties on our side. That is called winning a war, not being a bad president.

Last but not least, don't tell me Bush had no reason to goto war with Iraq (not irak). He was told by the CIA that they had destructive weapons, he acted on it. They have found proof of WMD formerly being in Iraq, and hell, the congress were the ones who accepted the war in the first place.

sorry for the short-story post I typed, I like political discussion :)

umm i might be a little off, didn't he order to attack the Serbian Extremists who were commiting genocide against Muslim Bosnians?

also, our last reall war would have been the gulf war, and before that the vietnam war(though tehnically war was never declaired on vietnam, but let's be rational)

no, they knew that both planes that hit the trade towers disrupted course with just barely enough time to act, yet they didnt even order military help at all, they ASSUMED all was fine and the pilots were simply going off course to potentially reduce turbulance or something and didnt think twice about it, yet... as I know someone who is an air traffic controller, the ONLY time a pilot changes course is when the tower tells them to (and towers are only in control during takeoff and landing, then other officers across the country switch off support for their own dedicated air zones), so they knew that something was wrong as the pilots of all the planes were not inexperienced and had been flying airplanes for years.

and those terrorist acts dont count, those are always anticipated and usually minimal life is lost due to a few bombs. There always has been and will continue to be terrorism in all countries/nations, just not many terrorist acts involve killing thousands of innocent americans not involved in any way with the government other than their paycheck is paid by a company thats under the laws of the states (yes, we have killed more in Iraq/Afghanistan and the middle east in general since, i remember the days after 9/11 hearing multiple tens or hundreds of deaths were monitored in a day, i already know that). This is the first attack of its kind. We have never had a terrorist hijack one, let alone multiple, airplanes and crash them into main military headquarters.

Bush Sr., Clinton and Bush Jr. all had info from the CIA that there was potential has "WMD"s in the middle east under Saddam. Clinton was the only realist and decided that if the US is allowed "WMD"s, so are they, its simply up to them as to how they use them, with all choices come a consequence (and no, consequences are not only bad things, its basically for saying for all effects, there is a cause, aka cause and effect). Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. are the two who acted on it and Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. both did not find any "WMD"s in Iraq and both wasted our budget by sending soldiers unneeded to a country that has every single right that we do to have "WMD"s and invading their laws and we, as the US, would have responded the same way Iraq did if someone came bursting into our country looking for "WMD"s. Notice how Clinton did nothing under someone elses advice who also instructed Bush to do something he did not do, as found here:
    http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/usa/richard-clarke/

    More specifically:
It shows, in the defense administers own words, Bush had something against Saddam for the 9/11 attacks when there was prior information reguarding the Al Queda and their whereabouts. There was no information leading to Iraq, but other middle eastern countries where the Al Queda were active. Saddam was the only thing in Iraq, other than oil, worth going after, and it was pretty much under false cause. Yes, there was "WMD"s potentially there before that could have been hidden and such, but thats just creating a conspiracy against Saddam to get him behind bars so Bush Jr. could impress Bush Sr., who was the initial one to start going after Saddam for the potential of having "WMD"s.

Also, thank you Xelink, history and geography have never ever been strong points for myself and I forgot those two.

I stll believe that war with Iraq was justified, as is Afghanistan. Iraq was a state swarming with terrorist activity. Saddam killed hundreds of innocent people and deserved to be crushed and humiliated. Yes we did not find WMD's but there is plenty of evidence that shows he could have had them. It is known as a fact that he has wanted them. I don't believe countries controlled by insane leaders need WMD's. Such as Iran, the leader of Iran denies the holocaust and doesn't see the Israelies right to live. I don't think we need a fanatic who is rascist and deeply violent to have weapons capable of killing hundreds upon thousands of people. I haven't had any trouble with any other country so far that invovles the subject of WMD's except for Iran. I respect your opinion but I think your sadly mistaken... In fact I think Iran launching a nuke at someone would be somewhat disturbing but at the same time i would be interested in the reaction militaristically and politicaly around the world.

i never said i personally disagreed with it, but there are things that could have been done differently, and im trying to back up clinton here because he really truly did what he felt was best, as no one could have seen what happened on 9/11.

bush has done alot of things wrong, but who hasnt? my point is that as he is president, he shouldnt be making more mistakes with even larger decisions (such as... oh, i dont know, war maybe?).

Well, considering the Clinton administration witnessed well over 5 significant terrorist attacks in its time and Bush has witnessed 1 (partly because of clinton) I will go with dubya. By the way I am talking about peace time terorist attack. I think if bill would have kept the military in the fine form it was and had been tougher on terrorism he would have made for a fantastic president, but you can't do it all eh?

exactly, where you see clinton failing because of him cutting military and not being super strict on terrorism, i see bush being an idiot in doing more for other countries over the one hes in charge of.
