Extraction.

extraction is a lame way of rendering that ppl use that either cant be arsed to render properly or ppl use that have not got the skill to render properly and then other ppl think they are gods for doing absolutly jack ----,where as ppl like DraveN Blizzard and Kazuya work hard for you guys to produce awesome cuts for all of you and sometimes get no respect from anyone.But some lame ass comes along with some extraction job and everyone thinks wow.(+) rep (+)rep your brilliant when all they have done is hit a button.This in my opinion is wrong and should be posted as a extraction job,either that or not posted at all

 

i just read ImperialPanda's reply, and i fully agree with him. I havent read all replies after the one from ImperialPanda.

i think his example of the math task was a pretty good one.. why solve it with your brain (which everyone can do, just takes alot of time), while you can do it with a calculator.

I think a lot of people got offended by the fact that some tutorials came out about extraction. These people have worked for a LONG time with the pen tool, the smudge tool and the lasso tool. i think they are currently extremely against the extraction technique, because alot of people can create good rendered special effects without months of practicing. I think the 'old' renderers are affraid of competition, and think it's unfair.
So i dont really think they think the extraction tool sucks, but they think it sucks it has become so known these days. And they want to defend their position / reputation as good renderers.
and well.. ofcourse you always have a group without a real own opinion, they just say stuff because a certain individual sais it, without really thinking about the subject himself.. nothing you can do about it

This is just what i THINK and i can be totally off ofcourse..

Rendering.

Why do we render?

There are many types of Renderers.

Those who enjoy rendering, do it for fun and a hobby.

Those who do it for Rep and Glory.

Where do I come under? - Most people think "Rep and Glory" well your wrong.

Rendering. A True Renderer is whut I define as someone who spends time, effort and renders because they enjoy it and want to help the public by rendering something which they can use.

A "Renderer" - Someone who does it for Rep, Glory and show. They don't care whut method they use, how long it takes them - as long as the render looks good and they get praised for it, they are happy.

Now, I could easily name you every renderer that I know, and whut type of renderer they were.

Tools.

Using the Extraction Tool in ROTY is like using a Calculater during a Non-Calculater Maths exam.

Anyways - The E Tool allows people to render something easily, and is unfair as - why should someone get praise for something that took them 5 minutes? While you have others spending all their rendering something putting a lot of effort into it and only getting half the praise?

Now your thinking - "Wait, he said a true renderer doesn't render for glory" - But the thing is - True Renderers' will soon die out and give into this "plague".

Its not fair in general.

Sure the Extraction is a useful tool, but will it make you feel good? Knowing that you pretty much "cheated" over it? Sure Pro's use Extraction, but thats them, we're here to talk about rendering in GR as a whole.

I'm gonna sum this up quickly, I'm busy with stuff.

Extraction Rendering doesn't give you the right to call yourself "great"

Its when you spend time, effort and use skill by using tools like the Pen Tool (and others) you earn the right to call yourself great.
