I am going to try and include everything you could, need, or would even want to know about renders and rendering in this thread. People can just look in this thread, rather than randomly searching through stuff.

Im going to make things easy for you. I will bold each section title, and color code things as needed.

    Basic Rendering Information

First off, you may be wondering, hey, what are these renders of which you speak?

Renders are pictures taken out of a backround. You get a wallpaper, or a graphic of some sort. You may not want all the backround junk, so you cut it out and make the image stand there by itself.

    How To Render
    • Get the image that you would like to cut a picture out of.
    • Save the image, and Open it in Photoshop
    • Put it on a transparent backround [use this link or check farther down the post.] [Link]
    • Grab the Polygonal Lasso tool or Pen tool. [to get to the Polygonal Lasso tool, simply right click on the regular lasso tool and select it.]
    • Zoom in on your image along the edges [500%-1600%]
    • Click along the edges all the way, or do it in sections.
    • When you finish going around the edges or a section, double click, and press CTRL + X to delete that selection.
    • Add a tag with your name on it, so people know who rendered it.
    • When your done, save it as a .PNG or .GIF [These support Transparent backrounds] and Upload it.

      Making Transparent Backrounds

    • Get the image you want to render.
    • Select it all [CTRL + A].
    • Copy the image [CTRL + C].
    • File > New.
    • Select the "Transparent" circle at the bottom.
    • Click OK.
    • Paste your image into the new document. [CTRL + V]
    • Render the image as normal.
    • Save it as a .PNG or .GIF [these filetypes allow transparency]
    • Upload your image and post it!
    Or
    • Open Image
    • Select the layer and press ctrl+j
    • Delete the original layer
    • Create a new layer and move it below the render layer
    • Fill it with a dark color
    • Render the image
    • Delete the filled layer
    Renders From DeviantArt

    Hey all,

Some of you might not know this but i think the most of you do. Its totally forbidden to render any material that you found on DA. The things made on DA are graphical artworks made by other designers.

    Rendering means ripping!

We are very clear on this matter From now on, so DONT!

If you see someone with a render from DeviantArt, and you are SURE, then PM a mod about it, i would be included.

    Rules For Posting Renders

Everytime you post a render, you need to provide the following information:

    * Where the image originally comes from. Site link, forum link, or GOOGLE link
    * Original Image
    * If you have permission from the author of such pieces at CG or dA, please provide that information in the original thread for the render

We've had a few problems in the past with people caught with rendering dA images, but proved they have gotten it off a third party site. This is to help keep people out of trouble, and to generally help everyone in the process of staying out of trouble. Please note, that we must have the original link to where you got the image from, regardless if its off google.

The only exception is GameWallPapers, where you can host the image on imageshack/or where ever you choose.

I also remind people that moderators are ready for your reports. Please always report dA renders, illegal renders, etc to a moderator via PM...and we'll get onto it. If you don't see the signature removed, try contacting a different moderator.

    Non-Gaming Renders

If your render does not have to deal with gaming, then post it in the Non-Gaming forum. Dont avoid posting it there because you think others dont check in there, they do. We are getting sick of having to move renders to the appropriate spot, and then people not knowing where they are. If its missing, its probably in the right section!

    Premium Renders

If your render is a good cut, on a good quality picture, and is large, then its probably premium. Post it there for more comments and such.

Lots of things are going on in there, a few things to check out.

Render of the Week: This is a weekly contest managed by Kazuya. You post your best render there that you have done, and you compete with others for a credit reward.

GR Delivery Render Pack: This is currently in the works, so go and submit some of your renders in there for them to use, its going to be awesome.

    Render Requests

Come to this section if you would like something rendered for you. You need to have 5 posts atleast to request something.

When you request a render, and someone has rendered the image for you, if you're satisfied with the render then please include:

"Finished" - "Request Filled" - "Close"

This will indicate to us you're request has been fulfilled and you want the thread locked.

If you do a request, and think its good enough to go in Premium then post it up they're! You'd be surpised the amount of people tht don't do this.

Allright, Thats all for now, it can always be added to. Please post comments on what you think, or anything you would like added.

+Rep is appreciated, as i spent a couple hours throwing this all together, and it would be nice.

    Thanks.

Wow thanks for the tutorial, I came into this site looking for renders but now I can actually make my own. Seriously this was one of the few things I could never find out how to do.

Try downloading it from the adobe site or somewhere, i doubt you could download it as i don't know what type of file it is, if people could invent new lassos and put them up for download there would be multiple topics on new cool lassos in resource boards everywhere, i think you need to complain about your faulty software.
