    I agree with mushir I think your should improve a little and learn more techniques then reapply later.

    Reapply whenever you feel you have gotten better ;P Browse a few of Galione's tutorials. He is an expert on depth.

    The bottom one works better but could do with something...not sure what. Can you just do a Gaussian Blur and set it to Lighten on the bottom one? See how it looks.
