    You demand it...

The adverbal phrase, step by step, derives from "in step-by-step manner."

When people speak this adverbal phrase so often, they will omit "in" and "manner."

Which will be confusing many non-English speakers if you say "do it step by step."

Because we were taught the Old English...which was composed of different dialects..

English is a West Germanic language that developed from Old English, the language of the Anglo-Saxons. English, having its major roots in Germanic languages, derives most of its grammar from Old English, although a Celtic substratal influence has also been postulated.[3][4] As a result of the Norman Conquest, it has been heavily influenced, more than any other Germanic language, by French, Latin and Greek. From England it spread to the rest of the British Isles, then to the colonies and territories of the British Empire (outside and inside the current Commonwealth of Nations) such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and others, particularly those in the Anglophone Caribbean. As a result of these historical developments English is the official language (sometimes one of several) in many countries formerly under British or American rule, such as Pakistan, Ghana, India, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and the Philippines.

Some of these countries were under British rule, so therefore their first language was English..

Why are you even mentioning the root of English? It has nothing to do with my topic

I am upset that why don't most American teachers teach grammar in methodically ways? I heard British teachers are better off at that?

Thats because proper speak gets old. Im sure in whatever your native launguage is they have slang and l3a1.(mabey not l3a1). When you learn a outside launguage, your normally try to learn it correct to estabilsh basic communication and then try to learn the slang.

And since most Americans are lazy slang is also much easer.

Yea, that makes a lot of sense... Learning English in a foreign country will improve your English accent?

Any language is the same way, and isn't used in it's fundamental rules. It's called slang, and people use it but it's not always taught that way. It's a way that people speak and it becomes confusing, I'm not going to say English is easy to learn but it's not like were teaching it wrong.

You're basing this off of the one school you've been to in Thailand and the 0 in the US I assume?

Now, your basing the fact that we teach poor English grammatically off the fact that on the internet theres not a good grammar sense?

Most people on this forum, and on the internet in general would fail an English class if thats how they typed up a report.
