I'm asian and the majority of my community is white. approx 70% of my school is white, 15% black, 15% asian, mexican, phillipino, etc....

MLK is the biggest holiday and assembly in my school.

So by your logic, 4th of July should be a white male holiday. After all, all the founding fathers were white males, and women and blacks did not get any rights. The few blacks who were set free during the revolution were usually resold back into slavery (a lot of the northeners who "freed" their slaves actually just sold them directly to southern plantaion owners) and women were still considered inferior.

Face it, MLK day isn't a black holiday

did you not read my post? Yes blacks were in America during the revolution, but they gained nothing from it. Whites were in America during MLK and yet you insist its a black holiday...

Um...no, because, America is made of all races, and has always been a country of immagrants. So, color of your skin would not matter on celbrating a day that our country was born. When it happened, does not matter. Who it effects now, is all that matters. Seeing how black people live in the country, that makes it a non white holiday. However, MLK day, is celebrating black men becoming equal with white men, and as I already stated, that is taking the white man down, and brining the black man up, equalling them out. Which is fine. I'm not saying it wasn't fine, but I'm just saying how I see it.

columbus day = he was caucasian so would it be a white holiday because we are celebrating him?

mlk day= he was african american so would it be a black holiday because we are celebrating him?

there was a time when african americans were not considered people but property, at that time their rights were denied, why would it be right to celebrate something that didn't apply to them and they didn't get. martin luther king jr. did not take anything away from caucasians, he did not harm them. he did not take any of their rights away.
