oh, and whoever said nuking a meteor... tsk tsk Space is a vacuum... If you know about Nuclear Fission, you acutlly NEED something , so unless you cause it within the meteor, it'll do nothing... Annddd Since its a vacuum, the only resistance is gravitational pull, so the power of the explosion would probally be worse by the time it was near earth, and the radiation would be extravagant. So before you state theories, ccan you guys pppplllleeeaaaasssseee, have facts or some sort of proof to back it up ^o)
The sun is one big nuclear explosion and the only thing we feel of it is the occasional electromagnetic pulse. We would be safe from the remnants of a nuclear exploion because of our magnetic field, the same we are protected from the sun's nuclear energy. ^_^
 I didn't see your post and I misread bacon's post. I thought he was saying a nuclear explostion was like an oxygen fueled explostion. Mah bad
Sorry for double post... but I have to continue my theories. Well... After seing a few documentaries and GFX's. Aliens: Extraterrestial Entities and Organisms? Hells yes. Of corse. Here, 9 planets per Solar system, We'll say 1,000,000,000 solar systems per galaxy, alright so thats 9,000,000,000 planets, and endless amounts of galaxies, so 9,000,000,000*1,000,000,000,000,000 = 9,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets, and your telling me that only 1 has life... buahahhahh ---- Back to topic, so yea, there is aliens, dont tell me that there isnt. Evolution: Of corse, we had to come from somewhere, and I'm not saying that there is no God, or higher entity, but we've come one hell of a way since 3000 BCE... Earth: yea we've screwed up, and its like smoking, if we screwed up for 400 years, then it'll take 400 years to fix... At least to my understanding it will. Meteors: of corse, and dont tell me nay, cause there is more astroids out there than any other piece of matter. Dont believe me? just look at the damn moon. Life: Heaven and Hell? Maybe not under those titles, but yes. Angels and Demons? Yeppers, but not in this physical plane of existance. (Watch Constantine and City of Angels) I'll add Time Travel - No this is impossible, not going to happen, and never will. If you manipulate anything, it'll never be the same. Things happened cause things happened. If you even pierce the barrier of existance, it'll fall apart. And any, its more acceptable that you'll get sent to another plane or dimension, then to be put into the future or past. Do I think that the Higher Beings and their counter culture can "time travel", yes I believe so, since they do not exist in this plane, they do not abid by these rules, so therefore they can mess around with it with out screwing it up...

We would be safe from the remnants of a nuclear exploion because of our magnetic field, the same we are protected from the sun's nuclear energy. ^_^
actually, your wrong... The sun is solid material, and has its own gravitational pull, meaning all matter is pulled towards it self. So even if the bombarded atoms left its atomosphere, the explosion would be pulled towards the sun... Thats what I m talking about.. So if we did explode all the astroid, its remeants, and the explosion itself would be pulled towards us... and the reason why we get magnetic pulsses, is becuase magnetism isnt affected by gravity, hense why you can use a magnet horizontally..
I agree with you on that one can't travel back in time but I also believe that time is only relative - that it depends on the speed one travels.

The sun is made up of elementary particles which it burns as fuel. The sun is massive and it has a gravitational pull, but the hydrogen atoms are "burned" that is, they release an exothermic outward energy by process of nuclear fission, this keeps it from "collapsing" on itself. Once the sun has burned through H, He, etc, it either, becomes a dwarf star, or if it is massive enough a supernova or blackhole.
Thats not my point though, my point is the fact that the gravity will make it worse. And you just proved my point even more, the fact that you cant have nuclear fission in a vacuum, that you need elements such as Hydrogen. And if it were to become a supernova, or a blackhole, that would be devestating lol, thats when it releases all of the radiation (Gamma Rays) and all of its forse, its truely is a nuclear bomb. But it wont happen in our life time...
You can have nuclear fission in a vacuum. Obviously you need a fuel to burn, that is what is in a nuclear bomb. You can't just create energy from nothing (vacuum). If that's the point your making than ok, we're on the same page. Depending on the size of the bomb sent into space, I am sure those Gamma Rays would not be worse than the ones we already recieve on a daily basis. And no, a nuclear bomb could not create a supernova or black hole, as you stated in your second to last second.
that is assuming that every other star has a planetary mass circling it -which is not the case there are alot of stars left planetless. either way the number of planets is still as astronomical as it would ever be.
Acutlly Iw as saying that a Super nova/Blackhole is practically a nuclear bomb, and a very good example for nuclear fission. And actually the gamma rays would be worse, since there is nothing up there, they would ony goto earth practically, have nothing stopping them, so we'd get a good wind of it ^_^ and yea the nuclear bomb would have its own fuel, but it wouldnt expand to the point of destroying the astroid...

So true. . . the number of planetary bodies within our cosmos has to be an extremely large # still that isn't basis for a scientific theory that life exists elsewhere.

thats my point though im just using my own little estamated numbers, one solar system may have 5 planets, and they other may have 30... it all evens out to itself... ^^ and to boon, its all probabillity, the odds are too high fothere to be nothing out there save us... And also, the climates might not be save for us, but other organism can live off other chemicals other than carbon and oxygen...
