Dvd Rw Not Reading

    recently my DVD RW has stopped detecting blank cd's for me to write to.. and claims theres no disk in there at all.. even though the disk tries loading at the beginning..

    it used to work :(

    any ideas? all help is appreciated

    Either the Laser emitter is bad and stop working or the Optics are dirty. That would be my first guess.

    Oh that sucks man it happened to my friend, he had to buy a new one.

    can it read any cd?? an do u see the drive when u click on my computer??

    if u dont see it there go here - http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm - download that an run it - an then restart when it ask

    but like the other said if that does nothin if a dead drive or on its way so

    its able to read other media yea...

    reads everything apart from blank disks

    some dvd writers dont like certain brands of blank media maybe thats the problem

    go here http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Info_Tool.html this is nero info tool its a lil program well tell u what your drive reads/writes - on cds

    u might have got cd that it will not do an also not all blank cds are good some can be messed up like i got a pack of 100 black dvds an 4 of them was no good so
