Okay well i bought a new hard drive and it didnt have any drivers on it when i instaleld windows. I brought it to school and got the tech guy to fix it but now i learned it needs to reformat to get my hard drive to work well enuf.. soo does ne1 know how to backup the drivers then reinstall em when i get it reformatted.?
well there are several options, you could use Norton Ghost, or some other back up program, put it on a disk and when your done reformatting you just put them back on
99.9% of the time the generic drivers provided by windows work just fine. I don't think I've ever installed drivers for a harddrive. so that's basically a non issue don't worry about it. as for formatting a drive, there are like 999999 programs that do it - google. google got em this as the 2nd result have fun http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348
If you already have Windows installed, you can just plug in your drive and right click the new drive, than format. Or use a Disk OS Software.
Im assuming you're talking about a SETA drive (which does require drivers for all of you that don't think HDs need drivers) put the drivers floppy in (you can download them anywhere, just google SETA drivers) and hit F6 durring windows setup to install them.
there is no such thing as a "SETA harddrive", atleast not in the mainstream consumer sector. you're referring to Serial Advanced Technology Attachment(SATA) at the most fundamental level, it is an extension from PATA. as such, it was designed so that there was no need for major software workarounds to get the devices functional. In terms of software compatibility, with modern OSes SATA is just as good as PATA when it comes to out-of-the-box-no-drivers-installed compatability. EDIT: google "seta drivers" http://www.google.com/search?q=SETA+driver...lient=firefox-a while we're at it...
