I just started playin this game (which i mainly got just for the demo for FF12) and i honestly cant believe how far Square has sunk. Ever since enix and square joined, the RPG's have started to make me sick. I was just wondering if anyone else shared my sentiment. I'd like to know what happened to the good old days when FF7,8, and so on kicked :censored: and now i get to play cell shaded peice of :censored: ....Nothing against cell shading, but leave that with the action aventure games and give RPG's the time and effort they deserve. What do you guys think?

first of all, square and enix didnt merge, enix bought square, something like that, and DQ8 looks pretty good in my opinion, havent played it though. I must say some parts look cheazy from what i saw its like dragon ball z and the super saiyan style.... but i will probably still try it.

I just miss the old style RPG gameplay.....all of the games since the "buy out" have been easy. I miss the difficulty in a good, long, 60 hour rpg. lol

    i share your pain.

I actually got rid of my xbox and gamecube (they are in the closet) and replaced them with my SNES and Dreamcast (for chrono trigger, final fantasy 3 and skies of arcadia).

Well , i had to ay DQ 8 was better than the last few SE's RPGs.

SE might have went slightly bad , but their games are still better than most around.

Well, letts just pray on good graces and the hope and prayers of millions that FF12 is just as exciting and awesome as its predesessors. If twelve blows, and that of course being the wrap up of the series.....there is no hope. If anyone finds a solid demo or trailer for it, pm me. I will kill myself if the game blows. LMAO

They did merge, actually. If anything Square was the headliner of the merge, but no one bought out the other....

DQVIII is a fantastic game, but not for everyone. I've always been a fan of Akira Toriyama's artwork, and cel-shaded graphics- so I guess I'm a sucker for it in that regard.

    If FF12 sucks, I'm STILL gonna get 13 :P

Anyway, one of the best PS2 RPG's is also cell shaded... Dragon Quarter...

DQ8 is in no way a bad game. And not many RPGs have even been 60 hour ordeals. By "Good old RPGs" i assume you mean no furhter back than ff7, which is hardly an old rpg. The original final fantasies could be beat inside and out in far less time than 60 hours.

It's nice and long. The battles while you're on the boat is pretty annoying. But it was cool when they go super sayian.
