Hey i was wondering what type of file to save a downloaded image off the internet? if it makes any difference cause some only save at like 250kb when the original was like 1mb

    like .jpeg, .png, .jpg... etc...

few years back every image that i downloaded were bitmap when i know they were jpg .. you can save every format there is - just depends how you saving it

another way is to right click properties on the image - get the link (check what type it is) .. paste it into a browser & save like that to see if it makes a difference

AND another note .. make sure they are not in REDUCED SIZE - usually they are resized if the images are too big

I use PNG for renders, and .GIF for snything else. And remember when your rendering to always save it as a .PNG, because if a rendered image is saved as anything else, it will probbaly come out choppy.

for forums and the like, consider 8bit .png over 8bit .gif as the image compression algorithm for .png is a bit more efficient.

jpg or png. png is bigger, so think if you really need the boosted quality for the space

depends on if you're using 8bit, 24 bit or 32bit .png
    the format is quite versatile.

8bit .png is typically smaller than .gif

ok, and about not downloading images off the internet without prior permission. got any websites that u know of that just stock bulk non-copyrighted images? cause i sure dont lol.

And u guys went into saving when rendering. .png on the end of a file downloading ends up a smaller file then jpg. prob cause only 8 bit pic. But thanx

And i realised if u chuck just a random .png, .jpeg, .gif it saves as that. But which one would save as the highest quality?

.png or .jpg are the best for saving files anyway if your saving renders use .png
