I just read an article debating the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy and whether the US should go with a Serve-Openly Policy which in turn prevents discharges for coming out of the closet (or being found out) within the military. This article compares our military with other countries (Israel, Australia, and Britain) who have the serve-openly policy...for which they had little to no issues with it. I also read an article in which a senator introduces a bill that prevents military discharges for being homosexual. http://www.365gay.com/news/allies-stance-c...ilitary-debate/ http://www.365gay.com/news/ny-sen-to-intro...ary-discharges/ I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about homosexuals in the military. I don't mind them being in the military and approve of a Serve-Openly Policy. No one should be judged based on their sexual preference (or based on anything for that matter). *please try not to use profanity or discriminatory terminology*
I do think homosexuals should be allowed in the military, people assume that gay people want to get with every guy they meet and cant actually work with another man professionally without any emotional feelings. And the "Don't ask don't tell" policy seems pretty ignorant, you shouldn't have to hide the fact that you're gay, but I'm guessing most gay people aren't going to run around shouting their sexuality, I know heterosexuals don't do that. I'm from England, but unfortunately don't know the British army's policy on homosexuality in the army.
k...well that was unnecessary (but of course what can I expect from the most disrespectful person on this forum) I agree...people also seem to assume that all gay men are flamboyant and won't serve their country that well because they're too feminine. The "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy does seem pretty ignorant but also...it's a step closer for allowing homosexuals into the service. This Serve-Openly Policy is to further that step to prevent (what I feel is) unnecessary discharges and also, like you said, let people not hide who they truly are.
You mean I win the title? OMG *Tears of joy* I'd just like to thank all the fans who have supported me throughout the years.
Unfortunately, he was talking about Draxxus before his post was deleted. This has a resemblence to Zoolander, you really need to get off the stage MP.
I kind of support the DADT policy. It would probably make a lot of guys uncomfortable knowing a guy they're training with is gay. I'm not saying it's right to be uncomfortable around gay people, but some people are.
Faggot. No reallly, anyone have a cigarette? I see no reason why gays shouldn't be allowed to serve... unless it's to protect them from raging, psychotic homophobes. Edit: You provoked me.
