Does Money Bring Happiness?

Okay I have been arguing for hours with my friend and I'm pretty pissed. He keeps telling me money has nothing to do with being happy, but I turn around and say he is just being totally ignorant to today's society and economy and is pretty much giving himself and everyone else a reason to settle for mediocricy. I don't attribute money making one happy but it sure makes being happy a lot easier with not having to worry about paying back loans, bills, mortage, and various other payments. I told him that majority of people would agree that he is just a ignorant fool who is pretty much being lazy or doesn't want to put in the time and work to become successful. (BTW he isn't in university, still in high school for the past 2 years and probably dropping out)

 

Iagree that to a certain extent money does bring happiness. Like you said you can pay the bills and finish paying for the house or whatever, but you can't buy yourself a family and friends.

well you I guess you could buy yourself a family and friends but then will not genuinely care for you. If you did that and you looked back at your life when you were on your death bed you would probably realise that you were a rich, lonely old man who had to buy himself friends and family. Not the sort of picture that would make me happy.

 

Money CAN buy you happiness. ;p You dont need friends ;p

Ofcourse money brings happiness, if i saw 20$ on the ground. BOOM! im happy.

 

money makes happiness because you get what you want and can live securely but it can't buy the true happiness that comes from a family.

 

I say money does bring happiness to an extent. And you can pretty much buy whatever you want.

You could live a life of luxuary doin notihng, but its no use if u have 'payed' ppl to like you, It cant match a famly

 

You need to see the difference between happiness and having a good time.

 

Most people already have family and friends.
People say money changes you, Thats not true

You change because you want to.. So it can buy happyness, as long as you dont change and become... *Shivers* Snobbish

 

id rather have my family and friends than money , id give up my house for my cat , id give away all my stuff to save my family , friends and cat

 

Rather have memories/Family/love etc than money.

 

TO a certain extent, yes money can buy happiness. You can pay bills, and indulge yourself in whatever you want. If you have a family, you can also let them indulge themselves, be happy, and thus, make you happy.
