my CPU is at 1.6 GHz i believe and a game i want to try out demands 1.7 GHz.. do you guys think ill slip by?
I'm not a computer --- but I don't think so, only RAM can effect games, and internet connection for online. But this a noobs opinion
what kind of a processor do you have? theres a pentium 4, pentium D, core duos, core 2 duos, many kinds.. if you have a pentium 4 1.6 ghz, probably can slide away with it and yes there are games that need a good cpu, but most are either ram dependent games or gpu dependent games
If its THAT small a margin, sure. You're prolly closer to 1.7 than to 1.6 anyway. Aside from that, CPU affects games in diff. ways. You're much more likely to need a better CPU for Flight Sim X, than for say, some random FPS.
depends on the CPU and game also GHz is nto a measurement of performance. a traditional clock runs at 60Hz it's not any less capable of telling time than than a digit clock which has a clock generator running at 32768Hz, heck in some cases it can be more accurate. example given. In many cases a 1.6GHz core 2 duo will outperform a 3.0Ghz Pentium 4. Merged Post: you won't be running CSS on a 4.66Mhz Intel 8086s processor.
