That's a pretty strict test, wouldn't you think? Face eternal damnation over doubting whether god exists or not, despite having done everything else god commanded (even if unknowingly)?
So? Getting into Heaven isn't about doing good works. It's all about the faith. If you deny God's existance, why should He reward you? The answer seems so OBVIOUS to me. He SHOULDN'T have to reward anybody. Hence why it's called GRACE. We should all be going to Hell for being imperfect. We don't deserve to be in God's presence. The only thing He's asking from anyone is for us to have faith in Him and His Son. I don't see how this is so difficult to understand. It's closed-minded. So what? It's a "membership" if you will. You can't expect to be accepted if you deny the one and only rule that you have to keep to become a member. ONE SIMPLE RULE.
If the Christian/Catholic god created everything... why did he create islam, hindi and all the other religions? ----------------------- My belief is when you die, you die. You rot and release your body's useful nutrients into the soil to continue the cycle of life.
He didn't "create" religion. Religion is man-made. The better question would be, "why did God allow other religions?" To answer that question, it's rather simple. God gives everybody a free will, and allow people to do as they please (within the normal bounds of reality). God wanted to share His creation with another creation of His own, man. He also wanted US to make the decisions whether or not we were going to follow His will. It's much more satisfying to Him if we choose to worship Him rather than be forced into it.
Im Catholic, I beleiven either goin to Heaven Or Hell. But its really depends on your religion, some religions dont beleive in heaven or hell but yinstead u just keep getting reincarnated into a new body till you have finnaly understood what life is about....
ok, so we agree that religion was created by man. but how do you know urs is right? there were religions before christianity, and there are some made after it. how to know what to believe is almost impossible. as for j_ball430 explaintion on aliens, great job. it sounds very realistic regardless of what we believe in, and why i believe the same thing for different reasons it was a well defended point
Well, to be honest, we DON'T know who is right. It's all a matter of opinion and what we feel to be true. I can speculate that I am right, and you can speculate that you are right. I believe that God cannot and will not be proven simply because it would defeat the purpose of faith. This being so, people are going to disagree and argue pointlessly over something that ultimately comes down to a matter of our own decision. As for the aliens, thanks. I just tried to tie that in with religion, but there are "secular" reasons why I don't believe aliens exist as well.
So all I have to do is say "I believe in God and I have faith in him," right? Hell no, and above all people, YOU should be one to know that, considering you claim to have studied the bible all throughout school and seem to be a firm believer of god and the bible. There is much more to christianity than just having faith and claiming you're a believer, which is why I believe god's priorities are messed up, at least according to the people who claim to know god's word. According to them, a baseless statement of "I have faith" holds more value than any good you might do to the community.
Then I guess I'll just go to hell, because I refuse to believe that the god who supposedly created the entire universe would be so closed-minded and petty.
for me it's simple, If I die I will be part of a life cycle and be part of earth. I know I won't be going anywhere and honestly, I never really thought about it. I know there are several religions that believe in heaven, hell and reincarnation. I am not bashing those and will, if I feel like it. Enter discussions with those people to talk about it. These discussions happen under the good will and with a drink. It's fun to do to listen to the opinions of others and learn more. Heaven and Hell might exist, I think the only way to learn it is when we die... And if I go to heaven... party at my place with all the angels... If it's hell, bbq at my place as well.
well personally i dont think there is a heaven or hell, well yeh there is a hell cuz were livin it each day pll die etc but person i dont think we do
It all depends on what denomination of the church you're a part of. I don't feel that I fall into any particular category, but I do take with me parts from many different denominations. This would be one thing that I've taken from Calvanism. The Bible says that it's by faith you're saved, not by works. Obviously, works have no bearing on your salvation. You are instructed to be like Christ and to spread His word, but this ultimately doesn't reflect on your salvation, rather, it reflects on the rewards and consequences received upon Judgement. God is only "closed-minded" by today's corrupt standards. If God doesn't accept everybody then he's some closed-minded fu©k. Well, I got news for everybody. Just like clubs and organizations, Heaven is "exclusive". Just because you can act like a member doesn't mean you should be a member. You still have to accept the rules. You have to acknowledge the organization's existance. Afterall, they're the one who grants your membership.
well i believe that when you die you die thats it but if somebody asked me that i would ask my good friend jim the floating sheep
doesn some religion, might be quakers not sure, believe that we are living in hell and when you die if your good you go to heaven and if not you either go back here? thought i heard that somewhere before and thought it was pretty amazing.
