Please... are you seriously going to tell me that there is any way possible for this to happen? There's just no way possible. [/b][/quote]
Obviously there is, considering that time doesn't stop. It won't ever happen in any human lifespan, hence why it's hard to comprehend such a concept, but time goes by regardless of you and I. The whole universe may explode and all life may cease to exist; time will still go by. Time is infinite; humans have a hard time imagining the concept of infinity.

Once again, highly unlikely =/= impossible.

You're talking to a Christian. I realize how little about infinity humans are capable of understanding.

I just don't see any chance of that ever happening, just as I see no chance of life being formed by accident.

Say I agree with that it's possible and could have happened. Explain to me exactly how humans came from this. Explain to me how everything works so perfectly. How there's such a way that procreation (that humans/mammals use) came to be. That's obviously by intelligent design. How we're attracted to one another. How the elements combine perfectly to create their respective mixtures.

I don't know. Nobody does. However, to say that it wasn't coincidence isn't a good explanation of it either.

Uh, no. It doesn't have to be by intelligent design. Evolution is basically a process of random mutations and adaptation. Whatever doesn't work dies out, because it's not fit to survive under the given conditions. Therefore, the only things that DO survive are the things that work. So, the fact that human beings "work perfectly" is still not proof of intelligent design; after all, we may just be the remains of a long chain of trial and error, where stuff would mutate and die out because it was unable to survive. We might as well be the result of a bunch of mutations that happened to be beneficial towards our survival. Therefore, we're the product of chance.

We'd still see the evidence of such imperfections. I believe man has evolved so much over the course of the history of our existance, but I certainly don't believe we've come from nothing.

It's not going to make a difference whether you believe in either or not.

It does if it turns out that Christianity (or another religion) is correct. If you didn't believe in it, you're screwed.

yay for deep post, shows maturity
i dont believe in heaven or hell, because it was invented by people. try to really imagine all of sudden you stop existing. just stop, nothing else ever happens. its hard to imagine isnt it. we define our world by our interactions, so when we die, our world dies. hard to imagine but all our science points to me being right

Science doesn't side with you nor me. You can't experiment with the spiritual world, therefore, you can't determine if there really is one or not. Science can only tell you so much.

It's not that hard to imagine that you're just gone. It's what happens to our pets when they die. It's just... gone. May not be the easiest thing to comprehend, but in all reality, it's not that hard.

Edit: nomu, in Christianity, you MUST accept Christ as Savior. There's no "good samaritan" clause stating that if you're good, follow the 10 commandments, love your neighbor, etc... that you'd go to Heaven. Just one way. "Nobody comes to the Father but through me."

How so? If they're imperfections and therefore detrimental to us, why would we still have them? But, to answer, the fact remains that scientists still don't know what the hell the appendix is for, yet we still have it. Our toes are pretty much useless as well, seeing as they aren't exactly prehensile nor can we do anything useful with them, yet we still have toes.

That's only true if the religion in question says that the only right path is their path. The only religions that are as closed-minded as that are Western religions. Many other religions enforce the belief that no true path is the correct one, but rather that as long as you stay true to whatever path you chose, you will still reach "heaven."

Then at this point I'd say that Christianity is a petty and closed-minded religion. I'm not gonna support some dude that'll send me to hell for an incredibly petty reason.

You obviously have not read the Bible nor understand it. You don't know the laws of Christianity, and to say it's closed-minded simply because of that one aspect then you should not be discussing this aspect of religion.

Uh, I attended various christian schools since kindergarten all the way to 10th grade. I probably read and studied the bible more than you have, actually, though I always took its teachings with a grain of salt.

Either way, my point still stands, considering that christianity IS closed-minded. You yourself said it:

That's the epitome of closed-mindedness right there, not to mention that I've met tons of "christians" who are all too eager to determine who's going to hell and who isn't simply because of religious affiliation.
