This is a really pointless disscussion, you cant prove there is a god, and i cant prove there isnt. what about Pure Energy creating God? you probably wouldnt accept that.
our minds dont have the ability to explain it , answer all of these questions , even all the scientists in the world cant , thats why we just belive in our religion , or not belive at all , and when we are asked to many questions we just sit there without something to say
Okay, so I haven't been on in a really long time, but anyway here it goes. @Paradigm, That has to be the most ignorant and arrogant post I've seen in this thread, well not all of it but just the last part. Basically this is the message I recieved from you, "you guys all suck because you believe in a spirit, your all weak, become atheist!" That's what I got. People aren't weak because they believe in a spirit. You believe in something as well, even if you are atheist, so does that make you weak? You just can't label a group of people because they believe in something, belief is one of the essence of life. I doubt anyone can live without belief, no matter what you are or what you do you believe in something. @The person who said the student was Einstien, yes you were right, it's amazing how at a young age he was rebelious yet he became a scientist. @Niosis, I don't mind your post but just remember that they don't have to be Christian, the variety of different religions today is unimaginable, there are so many different religions and choices someone could make today. @Twisted, I agree with your post besides the part where you said no body can measure evil, I believe people can measure evil. People are born with hearts and no matter how twisted or sick you become there's always your conciensce, people say when you kill you kill a part of yourself as well, well at one point in your life you will come to realize the true meaning of evil, there has to be something that everyone considers evil, and thats just our way of measuring it. @Dan, the point of being tested is to figure out who will be loyal to him/her/it. It is to determine who will go to Heaven or Hell, and what if you don't believe in Heaven or Hell, well there's nothing I can say to make you believe it. It's your choice and your life, and nobody should be allowed to say anything about it. So anyone got anything to say?
Actually, it isn't a test. It's a proposition. Either you accept his covenant and follow Him or face an eternity of damnation. If you don't believe that Jesus is Lord and that He died for our sins, opening up the presence of the Lord to everybody, then you pay for that decision. Bible also says that you can't earn your way into Heaven. It's mercy given by God to those who choose to believe in Him and His Son. No matter how good you are or how evil you are, you will face the same fate if you choose not to believe in Him. At least, this is what I believe, and what I have been taught to believe. This varies throughout religion, obviously, but this is true for Christianity.
genius my thoughts exactly [/b][/quote] I agree there, as well, but I said his first point in my first response to this thread. Second point is what I've been saying so many times. Though, I use a watch or a clock as an example. You can't set the components out and expect them to all just come together perfectly to create a clock/watch.
You have everything to lose if it turns out that whatever god exists isn't the christian one and happens to condemn the christian belief, for one. Moreover, look up what Pascal's Wager is to see why the "you have nothing to lose" argument doesn't work. Besides, you don't need to be a christian to treat others as you would have them treat you. Those virtues/values are not religion-specific, and it's perfectly possible to abide by those standards without having to affiliate yourself with any religion. We don't know how anything came together, nor do we know that you actually need anyone to stir the "cake mix" in order to make it work. I think I said it before, maybe here or on another topic, but the point remains: time is eternal. Anything that can happen will, simply because it has no time limitations. Even if it takes it 10^100 years for it to occur because it has 10^-100 chances of occuring, it doesn't mean that it will never happen. As implausible and coincidental as the big bang may have been, there was nothing stopping it from happening. It had an unlimited amount of time to work with, so to say that the big bang can't have happened because the chances of it happening were very small is wrong.
Yes, you can, because it's possible that over trillions and trillions of years (or however long it takes), a series of events may occur that happen to put all the pieces together in a way that you have a functioning clock/watch. Who knows, maybe you get an eartquake that happens to line up the cogs perfectly, then you get some wind in there that shifts some stuff around and connects some other stuff, etc. etc. Obviously, the chances of that ever occurring are next to none, but they are NOT 0.
Please... are you seriously going to tell me that there is any way possible for this to happen? There's just no way possible.
