same here im catholic and i do believe and even tho you pray and go to church that doesnt mean u will go to heaven or hell ... -------- Edited: Jesus = Michael Jackson tahts one stupidest crap i ever heard.
He was being sarcastic, you didn't have to take it so literal, yes you find it offensive, yes he didn't say no offence intended, just let it go.
Obviously no offense was meant to be made; I believe in God and Religion, and Jesus, and that Michael Jacksons' nose is Inverted into his skull.
LMAO, damn man your hilarious, I'd love to sit and debate this over with you guys but my bed is calling me, G'night have a good one, w.e. time it is where you guys are from.
OK, I belive in both heavan and hell. hmm, what I belive is that the decition for you to go to heavan or hell, is not so much based on what you do(I mean yes, it has some to do)...but it is more whats in your heart and how much you truly love God. Great story babyleo. I really really liked it. Ok, some people will be like...why did God allow this to happen. For instance an accedent where a drunk driver crashed into a car and killed a 20 year-old woman. I think, and this is just my understanding...that God gave man free will...it was that persons choice to drink....then drive. If you get what I mean.
My belief has always been this: I find it pretty ridiculous that we're doomed to eternal damnation for what we may have done in a lifetime. That's what, 60-80something years at most? What I did in a span of 60-80something years is enough to warrant a ticket to heaven or hell for the rest of eternity? Pfft. Whatever your definition of god is, I'd find that god pretty lame if he actually did that. For that reason, I believe in reincarnation and karma, regardless of whether or not a "god" exists. Life and death are a never-ending process where the soul inhabits numerous bodies, and the punishment you receive for whatever wrongs you may have done in this life will occur in your subsequent lives. The entire purpose of life, therefore, is to better your soul.
And the story was pretty good BUT, as someone else already mentioned, evil isn't quantifiable, nor is God. If that were an accurate analogy, you'd have to somehow be able to measure the presence/absensce of God in any given place or person to determine its "evilness" value. In the case of heat and light, as abstract as those concepts may seem, humans have managed to quantify them, measure them, and determine their behavior under numerous circumstances, not to mention even predict and control their behavior. The same can't be said about God. We can't quantify God. We can't measure the amount of God a certain person or place possesses. We can't determine God's behavior under any circumstances, nor can we predict and control god's behavior.
This outcome of this thread is quite typical. People cannot and do not share the same ideals. Nobody shares the same exact beliefs as another. One Christian's belief will not completely represent another's. Same goes for atheists. I am a Christian, and I believe in Heaven and Hell. I choose to believe this, and whether or not it is true, it's what I want to believe and have strong faith in. I just have one question, though. The only thing questionable that the Bible emphasizes is that there is a God, His Son is a carnate of Him, and He is the Creator of the universe. Everything else teaches ways we should live our lives. Most of these ideals are are not dismissed in today's world, so say I choose to live by these rules; what do I have to lose? Sure, I stop myself from doing exactly everything I want, but not everything I'd want to do is right. What if there isn't a God or Heaven or Hell? My life may be a waste by some opinions, but did I not live my life respectfully and with respect of others? What's so bad about that? Afterall, say my beliefs are right, I'm now going to reap the benefits of my living life the way it was intended. Now for my question, what do you have to lose by believing in the Bible or any other religion? You're only adding (innocent,) questionable ideology onto an otherwise accepted by the world.
Youre asking for an answer to a question that cannot be explained rationally. There is obviously beleivers and non-beleivers. I personally beleive as I think its smallminded of us to not beleive in things we see all the time. Like the saying you've gotta see it to beleive it us as human beings cant see everything radio waves, infrared waves we cant see them doesnt mean to say they dont exist. We think to highly of ourselves we are still a pretty immature race and in my opinion have a lot of evolving to do.
Although this may become a flame thread..eh w/e I really don't believe in Heaven Or Hell.. I'm a Muslim..but I'm not to into the whole religious scene..I believe in Suspended Animation..Thats scientific..I'd rather go with whats proven or tested...then whats believed..
Why live so blindly? Many discoveries have been made by those who chose NOT to go by what's "known" at the time. Protons and neutrons weren't known at a particular time, and it was an accepted truth that atoms were the tinest of all forms of matter. It took someone else to stretch their brains and creativity to figure out that there is much more to an atom than just the atom itself.
You're right..and I respect your beliefs and opinions..but..well I don't know..
I'm thinking you may start to see things differently in due time. I know I did. I've opened my mind up so much in the past year. It's not even funny. I used to believe in particular things and wouldn't budge on them. Now I look back, and I see that I was being so stubborn that I was preventing myself from expanding my knowledge. It's all about how you want to look at things.
You know how there has been a debate in Darwinism & Intelligent Design.. I'm thinking that ...there was an Intelligent Design that Created the universe..and then things slowly started to evolve..so its a mix between Darwinism and Intelligent Design.
