I have a pretty old dell that is on 24/7 for a couple of years now, yea i restart it every now and then, but its for a business thats open 24/7 so it has billing info and such on the HD. So now out of no where i get a disk read error when i start the pc. I checked and everything is connected. Im guessing the HD died. But i really hope im wrong because i have A LOT of info on it.. any ideas why it says disk read error?
Restart the computer, and try to get everything off that hard drive, it is dying, but not dead yet, hopefully..
this "disk read error" does it come up as a blue screen? If so i could be because its constantly running and it could be causing to overheat. Its happen to me before. that all i can say
nope, its the bios giving me a error, not on a blue screen. Im getting a 160 sata drive from best buy for 70 bucks or around there as we speak.. i checked and it was the hard drive. Im taking the old one to my house and running a test that trys to recorver the files from the drive.. hopefully it will work
you can try get the OS on the 160 one plug the dying HD in and see what happens -- Maybe its got too much strain on it hence the error coming up because its dying DARKSTAR
