I beg to differ... so long as the render isn't the main focus of the piece, it doesn't matter. And Hellknight and MT are absolutely correct in the fact it must include a PHOTOGRAPH. I'm editing the rules with that part now.

Correct, but only if that person edited the orginal photo... not simply slapping a render on a pre-existing manip. That would be ripping as far as I'm concerned. Having a render on the sig isn't an issue. So long as it started as a photograph.

Well if this is the case I think the sig of the week should be renamed to "Must Contain a Maniped Photo in it SOTW" :/ because well I'm sorry but if it has a render in it it isn't a photomanip... it just isn't. To what you said in the big red letters "it can't be the main focus"? how do you define main focus? IMO if it's in there it's going to be the main focus unless it was so heavily maniped in it's not even visable...? So I mean the rule should be only photographs should be allowed in the sig as that's what a photomanip sig is.. Either that or the title of this weeks SOTW should be renamed to mention it's not a photomanip SOTW. Just my view on it... wich probably doesn't matter and won't change anything buy hey... who cares right.

Well, there's no reason to change the name as it is simply what is required. Your "Must Contain a Maniped Photo in it SOTW", is the same thing as Photo manip, only stated in a different order. Don't think you thought that one through very well.

As for "main focus", I'm talking about doing some duplicate layer, blur, blending mode crap, and slapping a render on it. The render would then obviously be the main focus.

The original photograph must be of significantly noticable difference than your entry... plain and simple. Whether it be brushing to add or take away features of that original image, blending in new objects or removing something like a nose or eye, completely changing the coloring or shape of something, making a picture or a sunrise look like a night sky, or turning something into a machinized version; these things are what are considered acceptable manipulations of photographs.
