i was thinking about how people refer to depth. back when i was a GFX noob, i was always trying to pin down depth, find out exactly what it was. people who tried to explain it to me didn't do it very well, and i got mixed signals about the nature of depth.

so, today i was looking at a tut that somebody did, and they kept using several different techniques for "depth". i noticed that only one of them created depth of field. the others were used to increase contrast, improve BG variation, and broaden the dynamic range.

so i'd like to start a trend. i say depth of field should be called as such, dynamic range should be referred to correctly, and contrast adjustments should be called what they are.

it doesn't take much. and it prevents the confusion that comes when somebody says: the BG needs more depth" which, right now, means many things.

    who's with me?

i dont think you can do such thing.
theres nothing for you to measure with, and if you want to make that yourself, it wouldn't be universal.
