Since when has Guatemala affected our current status in the world? To my knowledge, Iraq has a far more profound influenceo n our country as a whole, and as our role as a country in the entire world. I never stated liberality was the correct way, but judging from all your responses, if you aren't solely conservative, you are extremely conservative in nature with very little liberal notions. As I said, anyone who makes up their mind before hearing the issue at hand is a fool.

The fact remains that liberals are what has shaped this country, not only positively, but negatively as well, and republicans are those who wish on less change to adjust to the future and more change to resort to past things which have been known to work basically, and reliant on the basis this country was founded on, ie - religion, specifically Christianity / Catholicism.

The Iraq "war" is illegal anyways. It's unconstitutional, we never declared war.

that's quite odd as a current election issues revolves around who voted for the declaration of war.

No... it's because he's a little child who listens only to what his mommy and daddy say, and they conviniently get their information from the liberal media.

No, I'm a Ron Paul follower. I'm not a little kid. We never did declare war on Iraq. RON PAUL 2008 !! Ron Paul never lies, he's a congressmen I think he would know whether or not we declared war or not. Also I don't watch TV FYI. I hate Fox News and whatnot. Do some research !! So what you said about me was an ignorant statement. Yes, they gave him permission to use military force in Afghanistan but not Iraq.

Its been a while since I read some stuff as in a couple of years.

Congress used to be the only one or the president needed to go through Congress first. But past stuff and issues or w/e, has made Congress lose that power, or the president doesn't need to go through Congress.

So the President can declare war, or say were in war or something and he can send the troops in, I mean he is the commander in chief. Now I dont know if this has changed, but he still needs to go through Congress for funds.

Yes. We are living in a dictatorship whether you believe it or not. I mean look at things like the Patriot and Military Commissions Acts, they are BOTH UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Bush is a dictator. He doesn't go to congress and he doesn't debate congress. Look up Directive 51, which gives Bush dictatorial powers. It's even on the whitehouse website, in the search bar on the site type in Directive 51 and click the first one that appears. The words dictator or dictatorial are not used but it certainly implies it.

Ah I was talking about a dictatorship. Dude, you have no idea about anything about this. Do some research. I never said I hate America. It's the truth. Bush has been talked bout him being a dictator, supposedly joking about it. Dude we have things called free speech zones now. Wake up !! Do you even know what the Military Commissions Act or the Patriot Acts are ? You have to understand, our government isn't just going to change into a communist country just like boom like that. It takes time, they slowly push into it. So actually lets get back to topic about the definition of a good conservative...

last time I checked congress voted to go to iraq. then they voted to fund the militarry occupation in iraq after the 2 day war was over.

the following people voted to go to iraq:
Every republican candidate except Ron Paul
Every democratic candidate aside from Barrack Obama(who wasn't in congress)

and yes the war in Iraq is over. Millitary occupation != war.

and FYI it's in the constitution that the PRESIDENT CANNOT DECLARE WAR
and since then laws have been passed which don't allow for the president to send troops somewhere for over 90 days without a declaration of war... that's right if a tsunami hit southern asia the troops would only be able stay there for humanitarian aid for 90 days... or did you forget all the bitching people did back then when they had to withdraw the US military after a mere 3 months?

Alright, to solve this once and for all, President Bush went against the United States Constitution. According to Article 2, Section 8 of the Constitution:

This bill was passed by Congress with a vote record of 392 (Yes), 11 (No), 10 (Not Voting). Of the members who voted, Ron Paul remained present without a vote (a polite 'no') and there is no record of Hilary even voting.

Just one little problem with that: if he's a dictator, why isn't he able to dance around the checks and balances set in place to ensure that a president doesn't become a dictator? You know, silencing media opposition, interfering with criminal cases, and, among other things, dismissing a Congress that is largely opposed to him? Doing a sh*t job? Yes. Dictator? No.

Oh, and for the record, the President can stick troops on the ground for (a maximum of) 90 days at a time, anywhere in the world. However, that really results in only thirty days on the ground, since it takes about a month to deploy and stage, and another to pull out. And, if he asks Congress for an extension (i.e. more funding, as in his budget), and they vote for it, he's good to go, so long as Congress keeps up the funding. All Congress would have to do is pull funding for the war, and the troops would have a month to get out. Full stop.

We never declared war on Iraq. We declared war on the Hussein regime. We did it to the Taliban, too, but for different reasons. However, Iraq is perfectly legal. All sorts of fun things you learn in a US Government class.
