I plan to buy - RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227269 Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115028 Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813141005 To add to my current 8800GTS, upgrading from Would I notice a huge improvement in FPS/Lag/Etc or would it really not even be worth it? Also would I need a new powersupply? I currently have a 550W (not sure if I just need a powersupply for running dual cards when the new cards come out.)
I dont think you'll notice a huge difference. If you insist on upgrading http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115037 is a better buy, can usually hit 4ghz on air with no problem. Or you could go quad core and wait for Yorkfield prices to drop a bit.
OK here you go MotherBoard- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131227 I go with this over 780i because they are not that great right now and you can only tri-sli GTX and Ultra's Memory - 4GB DDR2 800- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820146726 2GB DDR2 1066- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820148070 I would only go with 4GB if you have a 64bit OS if not go with 2Gb DDR2 1066 CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115017 I go with this very nice CPU and with that mobo it has easy nice OC'ing option if u get a GO stepping easily 3Ghz. If you have any questions X-fire -AsasinX MSN - [email protected] or just PM me in forums
Tbh id go with Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813136037 Oc's better than most 8 motherboards, up to par with the ASUS P5E DDR3 mobo. Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820146565 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115037
Just to let you know that the motherboard I linked is one of the very best overclocking boards atm that dont use DDR3. Also you really dont need to spend the money on the 1066 and the tracers version of the memory. Just more money to spend tbh, when you can get same or better performance at a cheaper price. Also if your going to go quad core wait until later when the newer Q9xxx series come out, perferably the Q9450 for around 316$ or get the Q9300 for even cheaper price.
swap the board take your pick FYI screw SLI it's more of a marketing gimmick than anything else for the money spent real world improvement is mediocre. stick with your current CPU and just overclock the sucker cheep yet decent RAM which will do DDR-1200 fairly easily http://www.tankguys.com/product_info.php?m...roducts_id=1806 also if you insist on a new CPU, e8400
Why are you bothering upgrading? I fail to see how your current setup would struggle with any games currently out.
I'd go with this too. DFI has many many tweaking options. A crazy amount. Though, get the Crucial Ballistix Tracer - I have them. They have cool lights. B)
What's the point in getting an enthusiast's overclockers board when the OP barely knows how to overclock?
The thing is about that motherboard, you can leave most of the things on auto and still oc just great on the stock voltages. If your really hardcore and want to get every mhz out of your cpu, then you can use all those settings.
Haha, DFI has been well behind pretty much since the end of NF4. I've gotten better results out of Abit and Asus with a C2D than with any DFI's. Also, check out the WR SPi's on HWBOT, it's the Asus' that are king.
Yes they have been behind lately, on the 680i and CFX chipsets werent that great. But the newer P35 are the king of the motherboards out there right now. Id check out this thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=154898. Nothing comes in comparsion to that motherboard. It has almost no vdrop what so ever. Great heat pipe cooling compared to abits and asus's stock heatpipes which are ----. Remember the abits 680i heatpipes, horrible cooling with the pwms at 70C idle and 90C+ on load w/ a fan, or look at the striker extreme over heating. ex: someone which did this on air cooling, which is prime stable. &
