I'd wait until the intel pricecuts, get the same CPU for 200$ less. or a q6600 for the same cost.

    uhh no.

I assume he's using it to game and vista has ----ty drivers.

also, FYI you could probably get by with spending LESS on the RAM and just overclock it(within warranty of course)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820144062

should be micron d9GHM and has a warranty up to 2.3V which is excellent. should be able to hit DDR2-1200 if that's your desire.

here is a 8800GTS 640mb for like the same price
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814122018

and here is a 320mb for like 70$ cheaper

    1. Vista comes built in with all Gfx card drivers. Ive tryied it with both 7800gs and 6200.

    2. Drivers from Xp will work on Vista. All my drivers work. All my friends pc that ive installed vista on has. Any troubles then just set compatability mode to Windows Xp SP2 and they will install

    3. Vista is the new gaming thing. Xp doesnt support Dx10 and with games already started to support Dx10 i think vista is better for games.

1 those drivers perform like ---- and the updated ones aren't much better. I never said It didn't have drivers, i just said they weren't worth a damn.

2name one game. also what's to say someone won't do a backport?

3 name one DX10 game. Also, name one game that performs noticeably better under vista with a 8800 than in XP

things haven't gotten much better since launch either...

so, please, go back to your employer M$ and stop the BS marketting.
you cna always get vista alter when there is an advantage.

Crysis, Halo 2 will need Dx10 to run full...And alot of new games will need Dx10 to run full

And the drivers that came with my 7800 are the same supplied with vista

You cant say an operating system is crap just because theres no games for it yet..Thats like judging a console until it gets some good games.

To your Halo 2 answer...halo 2 ran on 64mb on xbox..but it needs 1gb for pc miniumum..People say pcs and consoles are the same..there right in some aspects but if that was true then we would already have an x360 emulator on pc

And...everyone ive told to upgrade to vista have liked it, Ive only meet a few people that have tryied and it not liked it

arbiter, you said "i think vista is better for games."

how would you judge vista if there is no games out for it yet.. thats like judging a consle by the games that didnt come out yet...

i tried vista with some PC games, and i truley do not want to get vista because of its lack or good drivers

theres no point in getting vista yet though not until they bring out better drivers and fix some of the bugs that it has right now

Because XP games still run on vista. and with my pc they run at an average of 2fps slower...Thats nothing..So already Vista is better then Xp and it doesnt have any games
