Debate Forum

Obvious suggestion, I think it would be quite fun. You could place it in Entertainment or Off Topic, whichever is found more suitable to the staff. (Depending if you want credits to count, or not)

I really like debating - It's just me. Does anyone else like to? Sure as hell. Every single thread on GameRenders has atleast one arguement. A debate is nothing but a legitimate arguement, now isn't it? I think this would be an arguement-killer; Just like Off Topic is a spam-killer.

Plus, we would have valid discussions, and spend more time at GameRenders just from that forum. Activity can be marked.

So? Simple suggestion, just thought it would suffice for all the argueing and people that like to do it.

 

I like it, but reps would have to be like...totally removed from that section. Tempers would flare in there...

 

Ah wow how did I missthink that. That's a big question, actually.

Come to think of it.. Even if reputation is removed from that forum.. They will just track the person down and rep in another forum, and make it seem like a legitimate reason.

Good idea a debate forum would be awesome but rep would totaly have to be removed from that forum if they had this too many -reps as it is now for nothin.

too many morons on GR to have a debate forum and the rep abuse forum would be crazy

 

But then again, if you were -repped and someone reported you, and you did nothing besides debate, I'm sure mods will take care of it.. So it would plop a little bit on the Staff.. But as far as other members.. It's really up to them.

 

Can u even take the rep system out of a debate forum if GR had one ?

I don't neccessarily agree with this, but im not against it either. While I like a good debate as much as the next person, the idea of a debate forum brings up some complications.

One being the rep abuse that we know will most likely happen. People will disagree, neg reps will be given.

There is also what I am sure will happen, is flaming. Its almost inevitable. I am not sure I have seen a debate yet take place on these forums that didn't get closed eventually because of flaming.

Of course, you could make the suggestion that only Donators and higher can access it, but, I have even seen Donators partake in flaming, rep abuse, and other various rule breakings, so that wouldn't work either.

I think, that if we set a high enough requirement to be able to view/access a debate forum, it may help cut down on possible flaming.

Perhaps not only would they have to be Donators, but they would also have to have a certain amount of posts. Not a small amount either. I'm talking 1,000+ posts, because then it shows they have been around, and take a certain level of activity within the community.

We could also enforce punishment. Like a three strikes and their out rule. If they are caught flaming in a debate, or abusing the rep system because of the debate section, they lose access to it permenately. Though I don't know if thats possible to do.

Just some ideas though. If we couldn't keep the section under control, I would have to be against it. If we have ways we can control it though, then I would be for adding a debate section.

Just as I was thinking. Just set restrictions.. And please not Donators only.. That's lame. Donators have their own place to post.. The whole point of a Public Forum is that everyone sees it. The fact that donators pay, as do premium, they already get their benefits.

 

mmm.. Agreed. And about, Logic's post. Can't Shaggy create a Special Mask..? Like.. for Each Member type?

And, if you've been caught.. 3 times, the (let's say your a Premium Member).. Premium Member Debate Mask is removed. And your reset to Premium Member Status..
