Well there had been quite a couple of suggestion/comment/rants about stuff on GR. eg. exodus's post about reputation. I want to comment on it, but its closed. I can understand taht completely, as its not a problem or suggestion anymore, but a debate. I think a new forum should be made where people are allowed to argue something as long as it stays sane. If people just start spamming or flaming then even harsher rules for the abuser shoudl be used. Turn off post counts, creds and reps to keep the spamming-for-credits or rep-for-no-reason thing away. I dunno, i just thought since this is a forum people should be able to discuss things as longa s it doens't disrupt the forum.
yeah good idea , but as you all know any topic , can suddenly turn to flaming and when the flaming starts , we have to warn them and then their friends start putting things in their sig areas to free whoever , but we will take your suggestion under advisement Thanks *off topic* nice sig bro
Another way to do it is basically turn off all forms of policing in that section. What's there stays in there. Its sort of like a spam forum except any decent, mature person would stick with arguing only. Thanks for takin it into consideration
It'd be nice if your idea was managable, but lets face it: we have immature members at GR. 1) We can't disable reputation in the forum and even if we could, some people carry grudges for ever...and will eventually flame each other out in other forums. It might start up in the debate area, but it'll end up in the General Discussion; and guess who has the mop?
That really stinks because I know where you are coming from, but I have always wanted a Debate Forum at this place. A lot of huge message boards have them, even though it can get out of hand. I think that if you could make the forum, it would be up to each member to enter a debate. That way, if "unfair -reps" or any of that annoying stuff goes on, they know it was their "risk" to go into the discussion. Most of the time immature people leave debates once they are proven wrong enough. But even though this site is big, there are immature people at all places. It is just a very common thing in the human race. Anyways, beyond that, a lot of the posting here is spam and borderline spam. I think having a Debate Forum could create some reasonably intelligent conversation. I also think that it doesn’t really matter what forum it is in, people always complain and start arguments. It is either in their nature or not. I don’t know how much it matters, I just wanted to say what I thought.
Sad, but true... I dunno, guess there is no way anyone can carry this out with these kinda members at GR. There is another huge forum (non gfx tho) with the same kinda thing but it works really well. not gonna post the forum in case ppl will yell ADVERTISEMENT111 lol.
Yeah, at a lot of boards that I got to they also sections like this, and for the most part it works (people who want to contribute do it, people who have no idea what they're talking about stay out of it) Also, and this might be a bit harsh, but maybe try to have stricter rules on flaming and spamming in that area, so that people understand not to do it more
