    Are you talking about regular DOD or Source?

    What is your ping in game? What is your FPS in game?

    Dont know where to find this info? enable console in the game options, then hit the ~ key once console is enabled, then type net_graph 3 and it will tell you, you can also use net_graph 2 for a different view, and to turn it off if you dont like it, type net_graph 0.

    ok there are 3 typical sources of lag.

    1st one is software. if you have something eating resources(spyware, adaware, etc.) fix it...
    2nd is Hardware, hardware cannot handle the the task
    3rd is internet lag, fix anything eating bandwidth/configuration.

    Yer, i recommend doing a spyware scan, and also before playin a game, bring up the task manager CTRL ALT + Delete or right click toolbar> Task manager, and closed any unwanted processes i.e, msn, limewire etc etc.

    What internet connection fo you have?

    If its not brilliant sometimes when you go in a server with like 20-30 people in it you will get lag, have you tried playing on different servers aswell?

    Guy's, try downloading this config file. It was originally made for cs but it
    I think that it will work great to fix some lag you might have.
    Code:
    rate 25000 < should be between 9999 to 30000
    cl_cmdrate 100 < start high check for loss and lower by 5 until you what you need
    cl_updaterate 100 < check for choke and lower by 5 until you have what you need
    cl_interpolate 1
    cl_cmdbackup 5 < this can be any number between 0 & 5 ( what ever works best 4 u ).
    cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1
    cl_lagcompensation 1
    cl_interp 0 or cl_interp 0.1 or cl_interp 0.5
    cl_resend 1.5
    fps_max 100 < change that to match your desktop resolution

    // MISC SETTINGS //

    cl_showfps 1

    // RAIN SETTINGS //

    r_rainalpha "0.4"
    r_rainalphapow "0.8"
    r_raindensity "0"
    r_rainlength "0"
    r_RainProfile "0"
    r_RainRadius "0"
    r_RainSideVel "0"
    r_RainSimulate "0"
    r_rainspeed "0"
    r_RainSplashPercentage "0"
    r_rainwidth "0"

    // _Set violence settings_//
    // _increases blood to help you see hits better_//
    violence_ablood 10
    violence_agibs 10
    violence_hblood 10
    violence_hgibs 10

    //Crosshair makes nice small ones//
    cl_crosshairscale "2000"
    cl_crosshaircolor "0"
    cl_observercrosshair "4"
    cl_dynamiccrosshair "0"
    cl_crosshairalpha "999"
    cl_crosshairusealpha "1"
    cl_crosshairalpha "300"
    cl_crosshaircolor "4" //4 being light blue 0 being green default use numbers between 0 & 4 //
    crosshair "1
    Save this as autoexec.cfg and put it in your DoD directory.

    update everything, ur drivers for gfx card, and what router do you have, if its a lynksys, you neeed to update your "firmware" that was my problem, and then try pluging your cord directly into your computer if all fails

    he said everything is good on his pc so...

    are you on dial up? lol.

    and try this its worth a shot,

    open up steam then right click dod: source then go to "properties" then go to "set launch options" then enter -dxlevel 80 then click ok.

    see if that helps.

    Has it always been like this or just started happening?

    Internet conenction speed?

    And maybe if you have a router other people may be downloading something.

    run a speedtest to check what speed you are on, you may not be recieving the full speed, go somewhere like www.speakeasy.net/speedtest
