A world far beyond your imagination...
Parents are throwing away their laptop and wanting to get a desktop.

I need this computer to be fast at shutting down, turning on and opening regular applications like Firefox iE AcrobatReader MSWord 07 and other home use applications (meaning it should be done within seconds or so). In Addition, it has to be able to open other applications for their work (which I cannot specify due to well Stanford's regulation thingy). I need a Dual Core 2 in other words.

I would do this myself but I am busy this week with work and midterms going on at college, and my parents need this thing by the end of the week.

What I already have lying around My Room and is Usable:
    - GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB DDR3 PCI-E
    - Seagate Barracuda 160GB 7200 RPM SATA
    - Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB 10000 RPM SATA
    - Razor Tarantula Keyboard
    - Razor Diamond-back Gaming Mouse
    - Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard / Mouse
    - Windows XP Professionnal x64 bit Edition OEM Version (not used hopefully)
    - Windows Vista x64 bit Ultimate OEM Version (not used hopefully)

I think that most of my main components are above.

    All I need are these:
    - Motherboard
    - 4GB Ram for an x64 bit Processor
    - Processor
    - Power Supply
    - Casing
    - Monitor
And anything else that you think might be good.

Please use http://www.newegg.com for the parts :D

So Could someone hook me up with the things that will make this a workable desktop for an intensive everyday working, watching movies, and streaming online shows all the time.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Zain.

Don't throw money away on an X48. A midrange P35/P45 would be much better.
