onyl forewarnigns are the following: the ds3 is the best overclocker for the $$$ but it needs RAM with low default voltage settings(I beleive 1.6V default) to initially boot(though you can borrow a low per) which can cause issues with highend RAM with high voltage SPDs, though this can eb fixed by buying the cheapest strip of DDR2 RAM possible and using it for temporay booting and voltage adjustments.(or get RAM with a low speed like Team Group Extreme CAS 3 DDR667 micron d9x ICs) RAM - not sure what you need... modules with micron d9 ICs tend to be clocking very well 1100mhz CAS4/CAS5 2.2V(which micron d9 is cabaleable of sustaining fairly well esp with active cooling) range BUT, they cost$$$ and most people dont' need to spend in this as memory performance doesn't affect system performance as much as some might think. a 50% overclock only needs your RAM to hit 800mhz for 1:1 again not sure what they have over there, i heard there's this good German RAM, cellshock but not sure. probably not worth the money, I'd personally never spend the $$$ http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=116624 also no dual PCI-e x16 and for the record nVidia is supposed to be releasing GeForce 8 nextmonth, just to toss that in th air to you. even if you don't get a GeForce 8 card GF7 and x2k will experience price cuts regardless http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G80
Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to get the PC sometime around next year, when's Quad-Core coming out?
Well by then, this thread will have been a waste of time because prices will have dropped and new parts will have been released.
in general it is pointless to make a thread until you're atleast close to the purchase date of your system. in 1 year... k8L nForce 680 board x2600XT or x2800XT (or similar) some 700W+ PSU some PRM drive etc.
