I need to know the pentium 4 equivalent to a core 2 QUAD 2.2 ghz. The reason is because most of my hardware intensive games state system reqs in pentium4. So I need to know speed equivalent. Meaning how many Pentium 4 ghz worth of software can I run. Essentially, how fast is a core 2 quad 2.2 ghz in pentium 4 ghz. Thanks!

uhh well it's not a direct trans lation but

    you'de need four P4s @ 4Ghz each to be comparable to a 2.2Ghz core 2 quad.

    or two 4Ghz pentium Ds.

FYI no such thing as a 2.2Ghz Core 2 quad on the market. lowest I know of it 2.6, though they do have lower clocked Xeons based on the Core microarchitecture, but I believe it's 1.8Ghz 2.0Ghz 2.33 2.66 3.00

Lowest Core 2 Quad official is 2.4ghz, though I've seen some Q6400ES @ 2.13ghz stock.

errr... A P4 is simply eaten by a Core 2 Quad, what you're looking at is maybe a 2×Pentium Extreme or Pentium D at 4.5GHz

comparing a Pentium 4 to a Quad Core is like comparing a Pentium 2 to a Pentium 4 lol

that's like comparing a Civic to a Porche

not quite, the pentium 2(or atleast it's immediate derivitives) had better performance per clock and but acheived lower clock speeds.

this is basically the opposite scenario where the faster processor fulfills one category and not the other. Both swap places.
