Well, as being on a gfx forum, I see alot of copying styles.

For instant, lets use .FX aka O M G.

    He posted this tag-

It is particuraly similar to vogue's elmo sigs.

    -----------------------

For another example, use this tag fx used an idea to create this tag-

    This was AM aloctyic's tag-

    ------------------------

Well, those are just some examples. tbh, this happens a lot in everything, such as writing styles.

I personally think this is the same or if not close to the same as ripping. That person had an idea ands you completely stole it from them.

What are you all's views on this?

People will always copy something they think is very good

The original artist should be proud that someone enjoyed thier work enough to base a sig on thiers

On the other hand people should find thier own style and stick to it, not copy others.

I agree with what you posted.
Like, that is not even copying a style, that is just a blatent lack of imagination.

However, there is other times though like me.
I got lessons from Pale, and I use the couple techniques he tought me in a lot of pieces now, but I make it my own.

It's alright to learn and use someone elses techniques, but if you cannot manage it and mold it into your own, you're doing something wrong.

Pale told me like 2 things about making tags and I ran with it ya know.
Made my own stuff from what he tought me.

But That FX and Aloctyic tag might as well be a rip.
I don't agree with doing that.

I agree about copying peoples styles exactly but I think thats really mean to single .fx out. You should probably edit your post and take him out of this thread cause thats just mean.

That is not mean, he pissed me off when I was making this thread, so I needed an example, and he came to mind.

You're just using this as an excuse to flame .FX.

    Good topic.

Copying Styles to the point of the end result being the same or nearly the same as the original artists interpretation teaches you nothing. It's far better to use new techniques learnt from Tutorials and PSDs and apply them in conjunction with your own imagination to create your own 'style'.

The whole idea of tutorials and LR psds is to open your mind to other methods or techniques you maybe hadn't considered before and to apply them with your own hand, your way.

its ok to copy or use someones else style to learn n get better but not to enhance your overall image

"its just like t-mac is my fav player in nba so i copy his play
if he shoots all jumpers n kicks his leg im gonna do that also
to get better and incorperate with my game"

It's just gonna happen as stated above it part of life we all copy something or someone but might not realise or wanna admit it

imitating style isnt a problem for anyone, because you can always find something in common with 2 sigs, sometimes a basic idea, a style, a pattern... if everything was different, there would be no styles, everything would be a style by itself.

but the examples you showed.. well... its not just imitating, its copying, if not "CTRL+C CTRL+V"ing.

were those tags included in tutorials? they might have been copied because of that...

I love how you flame me because you lost a battle against me at NSL. You need to grow up. Every tag anyone makes these days is not 100% original.

There is always going to be Techniques etc used that you use.

I asked Acolytic if it was alright to make a tag like his before I made it. I got permission and he said it was fine.

Stop Flaming me and get a life.

The reason was i was trying new techniques.

Even logicaly said in your rip thread every tag u make is the same.

Even your current tag is a copy of mcfcake's.

    --------

Lets get on with all this, stop looking at the example " flaming " which its not and use the thread.
