posted t before though nto as a specific post.. been out for a while from varying sources. I'm considering the 2.4 ghz version, but if the opteron 170 is down to the same price, then F' that, JUST OC an opteron a shidload.
if you are on an athlon 64, you don't need as much L2 cache. L2 cache serves as a buffer between the proc and the system bus, the Athlons have a faster, lower latency system bus so the need is reduced. Using more cache also has it's disadvantages as adding cache increases the latency of the cache as you go up. That's why the x2 4200+ OUTPERFORMS the 4400+ in a few cases.
