ok, this is on my family's computer that my mom and dad uses. I need your input on this. it starts up Window XP's splash screen, and.... nothing happens. it stays there, with the little bar going across. I tried to go to the last good configuration, safe mode, nothing... the specs are: AMD Duron 1.3ghz 256mb RAM 30GB HDD they only use it for surfing, writing word docs, and playing card games. Right now I am doing a repair install, see if that helps any. If not, I will use Knoppix to get their data out of the machine, then reformat. any suggestions? think i tried everything. I started the repair about an hour ago, still only at 80%.... do not tell me to get a new computer, please. we dont need it.
