I am having problems with my computor as you can tell by the title.

Right here is what is happening. I turn on my computor and then reandomly my monitor screen keeps going dark and flickering. I wondered if this is my GFX card as it went a few days ago so i replaced a wire. Or if it is just the monitor or both.

If anyone can help me it will be greatly appreciated.

It could be your psu not being able to handle the computer. Does the screen flicker a few times and then comes back, or do you need to restart it. If it flickers a bit and comes back on make sure all of your cables are plugged in tightly and securily.

you could also test it on another monitor, if that's available.

Reseeding (taking out and putting back in) the video card fixes it sometimes.

Also, try re-installing your video drivers, then restart and let the comp find it again.

It may be his/her video card.... It's not necesarily his monitor... wait until he gets back on, and he can tell us if anything of ours works.

mmmm it could be some kind of (pardon the sci-fi term :P ) energy surge thing. my family computer and mine are close together (like on the same table) and whenever i turn on my monitor, the other one flickers and turns off for a second or two, though it doesnt happen the other way around. it only happens when my monitor is shut down completely and off for a couple hours...

PS my monitor is an old 15" family is a newer 21" :(
    both are CRTs

Could be your monitor (steal one from work and test it ;) ) or just try taking out your vid card and putting it back in (like was said above)

to really test it u could move ur comp system to a different outlet away from other comps tv etc
if you have another monitor then test that
if it still flickers then its ur card but if it doesn't then its prolly the monitor
