Work towards my build that I plan on doing in a few days. (This involves upgrading to either R600 or and 8800 in the next few months.)
    E'6400
    Gigabyte DS-3 or BioStar T-Force P965 motherboards
    Team Xtreme 2x 1GB DDR2-667
    eVGA 7600GT
    Seagate Barracuda 320GB
    NEC CD/DVD R+RW
    Enhance 500W PSU
    ThermalTake Armour Series ATX Case

Don't get the x1950xtx, it's only Dx9, while there are already dx10 cards. Get the 8800GT/s/X if you want a high end card, otherwise wait.

The E6600 is a good choiche.

Don't get the Intel board, get a nForce 680i SLi mobo(Asus Xtreme Striker/ eVGA board, if you're going for a nvidia card. If you'd go ati, I'd say wait for RD600, RD600 as chipset and R600 as VGA core.

You might want a better psu for that, Corsair has a very good 620W one.

Get a Arctic Freezer 7 --- for cooling, 3 heatpipes for only $20, beats 9500Led and Big Typhoon (+35$) I'm getting myself one to. If you really want high end cooling; Scythe Infinity or Tuniq Tower 120.

For memory, make sure you get a good branded 2gb kit, if possible with Micron D9 chips, which overclock really good. (1000mhz and more) I can recommend Geil Ultra Low Latencies 2gb ddr2 800 kit and Team Xtreem ddr2 667 2gb kit.

Just my opinion. You can find yourself links on Newegg, post em here and I'll check if it's right, I'd do it myself if I wasn't really busy doing my homework :/

i'd suggest the Scythe Ninja. Has like 12 heatpipes, and its on sale for $40. and yeah, dev, the team extreme memory is some of the best you can get.

hah everyone just repeats what i say... heh i do it myself...

    620W corsair PSU

delivers up to 50 amps on the 12V rails, that's insane and would power most of everything
    http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod...AIR+CMPSU-620HX

if that is too rich for you, try this, comparable quality but it puts out only 35A on the 12V rails(enough for one highend video card and a bunch of other stuff, but only one card)

also badaxe is overrated unless you want to heavily modify it.
    et your soldering iron ready...

    perhaps this
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813188009

should get more than enough of an overclock if that's what you want, and it's implementation of the PCI-e bus is better than that of intels and as fo this moment ATI's(which is why crossfire works better on SLi board under hacked drivers.)

arctic freezer is a oood cooler, I'm not that familiar with its performance though.

scythe mine is still a pretty good cooler though, only like 2-3$ more and if it's anything like the infinity, well, you can't hear it.
