Well, my computer is all screwed up, It does not have an internet connection and hasnt for 2 days, anyone know what to do?

Its a dell dimension 3000 and is running on a Linksys router (firewall) which is attatched to my downstairs computer. It says that the connection is good, but whenever I wanna go online it says "Connecting to www.yahoo.com" for like 5 minutes, and then finally says "Could not find site: www.yahoo.com)

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried resetting it (I mean the firewall, then your computer)? Sometimes the biggest problems have the simplest answers.

You probably have a ---- load of spyware. Before I restored my computer I had over 2,000 files of spyware and adware. That stuff can slow down your internet connection, and possibly cut it off. You need to delete all that spyware, or just restore your connection.

What do you mean by restoring? I have already run virus-scan and ad-aware programs like 80 times, and all of its deleted, I also deleted atleast 3 gig worth of files. Im gonna try now to set the clock back 3 days to see if that works, is that what you mean?

1000 creds to whoever helps me, I seriously want help.. :(

My internet did that for a while too...

    This should work:

    - Unplug all the cords on your router.
    - Plug in all the cords to your router.

First do that^^^^^. Then go to Start>Run and type cmd. In the command prompt, type ipconfig /all, and see if you are getting an IP from your router. More than likely it will be a 192.168.X.X number. Look for the IP to the gateway and then type ping X.X.X.X (Where the gateway is the X's) if you get replies from your router, try ping www.google.com. If it times out something else is up.

unplug the connection to your firewall, then unplug ure internet connection. then put plug them both back in, it might fix that.

im not so expirienced with routers but if its anything like Norton Internet Security, it might be blocking either your internet connection or your browser, if it has an "allow" or "block" list or something like that, check that.

also, i suggest calling up ure ISP. they may be having problems in your area and they might be able to help you out more than we can here.
