So, I'm going to college in about 2 weeks now and my friends are already leaving day after day, so I figured I'd ask, who here is headed off to college? Where are you going? Are you looking forward to it? And more related to me, anyone going to the University of Denver?
How come you call the University a University in it's title, but you refer to it as college? Here in NZ we call high school college, and University University. Also I'm currently studying at Victoria University in Wellington. B!tchin'.
Why do you call high school college when it's clearly high school. Here in America we don't give a ----.
High school is high school, college is just another term for university (we find it weird to say "I can't wait til go to uni next year" so we call it college, and I'm sure there's more behind the etymology) and it's just to distinguish the school as a college/university. There's typically University of [State Name] we'll use Arizona since that's where I live, we've got the University of Arizona. Then there's typically what's referred to as a 'State school' like Arizona State University (which is where I go) and then there's all the schools that.. don't have state names, like Duke, Georgetown, etc. If that makes any sense.
Don't derail the topic on semantics, it's stupid. I'm going off to college. Yes, I'm looking forward to it.
We have primary (elementary) school which is also school. We have high (junior, high) school which is also school, then private high schools called colleges and school and university is university but it's also college which is also school.
I have a brother in Tucson, gotta give my love to U of A, sorry ASU MP what year is your cousin? Sock, what school?
Last year of college, my third year. Just going to a local community college, then going to start my own business. Never had the "going away to college" experience and think that, based on my personality, I'm better off that way. Too many distractions in dorm life, and I have a short attention span.
