    MY RESULTS!= [IMG]

    XMasterX's Result!= [IMG]

    READ THIS FIRST, IT'S A MUST! If you didn't do it right it will come up as a blank screen with just your background logging in. If this happens then hit 'CTRL+ALT+DEL' and then File > Run | Explorer.exe to go back to your other shell manually. Then you can try again or give up, your choice.

    NEW WAY

    First of all, go to http://download.com and get "Resource Hacker" LINK = http://www.download.com/Resource-Hacker/30...tml?tag=lst-0-1

    Take the resource hacker and unzip it into a folder on your desktop or My Documents. It really doesn't matter where to be honest.

    Open Resource hacker and then go to "File > Open > My Computer > "HDD" (Normally C:\) > WINDOWS | Then open 'Explorer.exe' (May just say "Explorer")

    When you get this open you are going to see a list of files and you will see "String Table." Open String Table up and look for the folder in it that is number 37. After getting 37 open it should be the only file in there.

    Now, when you click on the file in 37 (1033) then something will pop-up and show you a bunch of type. Don't edit anything but "start" put ANYTHING you want to in it with convidince. LEAVE THE QUOTATIONS AROUND IT PLEASE!!!!!!!!! ("YOUR TEXT")

    [IMG]

    After you have edited this then you can now see that the Compile button is now available, click it. Then got to File > save as | Then save it as the name of whatever you changed the "Start" text to WITH .EXE ON THE END!!!

    [IMG]

    Then you are going to go to Start (Will change in a bit) > Run | Type in 'Regedit' (Minus the ' '). Then navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon

    When you get there change "SHELL" (double click it) to the name of your .exe file INCLUDING THE .EXE PART!!!!

    [IMG]

    Then you can restart your computer. Or log out and log back in.

    OLD WAY

    RECCOMEND THIS HEX EDITOR http://www.download.com/3001-2352_4-10447489.html

    Okay, so I know everyone uses the stupid "Start" button and it isn't really fun to look at "Start" all of the time. When you were a little one you though, "Oh, I will start here." Now it is just something you got to look at.

    It is possible to change the text of the start button through the use of a hex editor which is a special program that allows you to edit files that were already put together.

    To get started, all you need is a hex editor which you can dowload for free on the web. If you do not have a hex editor, visit http://download.com and preform a search for hex editor and you will find several.

    Once you have the hex editor downloaded and installed, just open up explorer.exe which is found in the windows directory in the program. Then go to the following offsets and you will see the text 'S T A R T'. Just modify the letters to what ever you wish and save the file and you are set to go. Make sure that you leave the spaces between the letters and you only overwrite the five letters.

    The file offsets for XP are: 000412b6 - 000412bf and 0004158a - 00041593

    Can you show us an example of what it will look like? And will it be easily reversable?

    I am on my new computer so I am in the middle of doing this myself. I will post an AKW bar in a bit. It is reversible. Just do the same thing over again, just backwards next time. ;)

    EDIT: BBL I "HAVE" to go eat... says mom... -___-
