I have an NVIDIA Geforce 6200 Video Card that I just bought and installed. It's fine as in like I can play CSS, HL2, and DODS but I can't play MPEG or WMV videos.
The CD that came with the card had old drivers that were know to have issues so I uninstalled them and used Driver Cleaner Pro to get EVERY one of the old NVIDIA driver files off my PC. Then I downloaded the new drivers from this link.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.31.html

If you look at the top of the link the new driver version is 91.31

It's fine that I used the CD which I shoulden't have but I have the new drivers because Driver Cleaner Pro removed ALL of the old drivers. If I had just downloaded the new drivers and installed I would still of had the old drivers. I had to use Driver Cleaner Pro.

Here is a pic to prove that I have the newest drivers that are version 91.31. If you look under ForceWare Version it's 91.31.

When I try to play an MPEG or WMV file my PC just freezes. Please help I don't know what to do. :(

With my previous card (Integrated) it worked fine so something has to be wrong with the 6200. :(

Well on my previous video card (integrated) it worked fine so it has to be something with the 6200. That has nothing to do with it, my codecs are perfect and up to date. It's all about the video card.

download the ' Klite Mega Codec Pack ' off your favorite p2p or torrent program......

that should get you straighted out...... also download GSpot a video program that checks the quality of the videos you are trying to play, perhaps you just have corrupted wmvs and mpegs?

no the files im trying to play are the same ones i played on my previous video card. and i dont have a p2p program which i think is against the rules to talk about on GR anyway even though you didnt suggest illegal :)

but I don't think it's codecs and link to 2nd thing plz :)

What player are you trying to use? -__-

It has nothing to do with the card man. It's something to do with the codecs through wich your card uses.

Realplayer, Quicktime, Windows Media Player all of them.

Those players can play MPEG and WMV files.

    WMV is Windows Media Video

    Play it with WMP...

MPEG can be played through WMP too...
