Well, I agree 100% on the rating issue. I think people just crave validation for their work, which in the case of signatures seems rather silly. They should be expressions of your own creativity and personal tastes.

With regards to c4ds, my opinion differs slightly. I think any artist can use whatever 'medium' they choose to achieve the effects they are looking for. Be that brushing, defaults, c4ds, whatever. Technically any time you use a stock, or a render, you are already building on someone elses work. I dont see any difference between defaults and c4d when they both are used to transform an existing image.

......................  You joined on my birthday date! 5th December!! OMG   :D

ON topic: Snake I completely understand and agree to some extents about what you are saying about the C4Ds, however, as C4Ds can already create a whole piece of full artwork by themselves, I personally find this ripping another image for your own tag's effects/benefit. I suppose you are 100% right, but this rant is all a matter of personal opinion and judgement I suppose. I value your opinion highly. :)

If you dont like them then dont use them, let others do whatever they want. all gadgets are there as material to use them, simple as that.

I wont say anything against anybody if they use or not c4ds coz is their choice anyway. Defaults will give resulst as if there are C4Ds used anyway so we can't really judge a sig by its looks, we can only find out if we see the PSD of the sig made. In the long run who cares about the usage of whatever they want to use, at least they are doing something to pass the time or whatever. Many times sig makers give the wrong conclution coz of what they see-and they are wrong even if they call themselves pros.

About pros, it must be a title given and not claimed by anyone. If someone is called pro is coz somewhere along the line they earned the title. In that regard who am i to say they are not pros when i am not even a pro myself?

Cheers! Nice reading all your posts :P

I agree but very Flamesy but very loosly. I too was doing my best to stay away from trends, and whored styles (when i came into GFX sprites were big) but then you couldnt get pass one tut whith out useing c4d. SO now i use c4d just not on every sig and i mainly try to avoid it when i can but Im trying to spezilize in light effects( and become known for it like Huy-n is known for renders) and c4d can help me get there. the way i see it C4d is just another tool like a scewdiver and a power drill or like the spices in some food. its okay to use as long as you dont get carried away whith it

Ps. I rate on a scale of 1-10 i class on the scale of begener -pro

lol, I don't use C4D's in my signatures... I just collage the hell out of crap sometimes

Hmm, now that I think about it, I've never used a single C4D in my signature... I have used other random pictures though for a good effect.

I am guilty of using brushes though... and I don't know how to make brushes lol

Some examples of how you can add real pictures into sigs to enhance them:
    Lightning Storm

    Smudged Stars

Towel or somethin with flowers and crap

I agree with you in some aspects.

I dont agree with classing people by rank, you should be able to tell how good someone is by looking at your work. if they really are pro you should be able to tell that yourself, not be told.

However i dont think using C4Ds makes you a noob. If you have to have them in every tag you make, i dont think you really should be proud of it.

However i dont agree with saying "if you didnt make it, dont use it". Theyre basicly just a render. its just like saying "if you didnt do that cutout, using it makes you a noob"

I like to slap a C4D in every so often, not in every single freakin' piece i make, but where it fits.

Trust me, if i could afford cinema4D, theres no way in hell i wouldnt use my own

I totally agree with you. And Red Alert.

People come here "zomg prozz i was rated pro from NSL OMFG"

NSL? Who are they to tell you that? Do you know what pro is? Can you DEFINE Professional? It's being THE TOP in all of the class, of graphics. Signature art really CANNOT be pro.

I also feel strong about "pro" and "semi pro" sigs. I don't even open the thread.

    »Professional
"I'm kinda getting tired of the nonsense people saying "My work is Pro" or "His work is Pro". There are many argues over the fact whether someone is Pro or not.
Who is there to judge if someone is a Pro or not. No one. Because there are always people better than you and they think you are a beginner. Saying someone is a Pro, is an OPINION. And opinions are NOT facts. The truth is that there are no facts in judging someone's work, since its a matter of taste and opinions."

Wrote that in my Journal on DA here http://nicasus.deviantart.com/journal

There are no Pro's so stfu all

With the Pro aspects, I agree that no one can tell you if you are ''Pro'' or not .. I mean classing someone who makes a tag of all pieces of digital art as ''Professional'' is obscene, surely it all comes down to opinionated views and not solid ranks. For example, many tags I see which are classed as ''Pro'' or ''Semi-pro'' I don't like, whereas others do, so I always disregard that fact if anyone has labelled their own work Pro.

Neitherine, I disagree that using renders is the same as C4Ds, as explained above, the render or stock is not an effect, and you could regard a C4D as a work of abstract, digital art on it's own. Hence why it is prohibited to use renders from DA or any other top modelling/digital art sites.

And did I say using C4D made you a noob? I don't recall I did. Besides it's not like I'm setting up a petition to ban the use of C4Ds or anything, I'm just venting my opinion. :)
