ok i made a topic before about my slow laptop and how i wanted more ram. Now I'm wondering, because i've never seen a 768mb computer. Can i put these two together? or do they both have to be 256 or 512? I was just about to order a 512mb ram card and wondered if i could even use it with my 256.

if its the same speed and everything, except the mb difference, im pretty sure they should work, but the rest has to be the same.

won't work optimally if the system is running in dual channel(using two strips of identical ram in a way so that stuff is read/written fater) but if not it should be fine. if one of the strips of ram is slower/has higher latency the the otehr, then the slowest speed will be used.
